This one.... I've found it online, but 50 bucks for a used paperback seems kinda spendy. Just wondering if it's worth my time. I did find the movie/documentary that comes with it. (Fast Break). It had that 70's style of rough editing and music, but was pretty cool to see the players and their daily life back then. Quite a bit of time spent with Walton too. Fair warning- it's a hour and 45 minutes, and gets slow in some spots.
The Breaks Of The Game by David Halberdtam is still the definitive book on Portland's championship season and beyond....IMHO
I went into journalism in high school because of David Halberstram. He may have been the most informed and fair minded American journalist of the 20th century. I couldn't believe when he died in a car accident. But the understanding of the freedom the media enjoys and the knowledge not to abuse it... probably died with him.
Gotta agree with you 100%. I've read virtually everything he ever wrote and every book was gold. He was an outstanding writer and died far too soon.
Yeah, I will give that a shot. The reviews on it, and basically ALL of Halberstrams works are really positive. I normally read fiction, so I appreciate the input. Just looking for something Blazer related to fill this sumertime hole, and the old media guides are getting boring.... Lol
