Insider mentioned Seattle as a possible destination for Ron Artest. The Sonics need defensive help, and the possibility of Shard opting out and wanting a max deal might add up to him being traded. Their contracts work salary wise. Do Seattle fans endorse this trade? Can Fortson & Artest co-exist?
I don't think Fortson becomes a deciding factor for that trade I think that it fills some holes but I'm not sure it will equate into more wins.. Artest is a guy who is built for a Carlisle/Brown type of setup..
As I predicted Anyway, I don't think I'd do it straight up. But Artest and Jeff Foster for Rashard and Potapenko. And how about Vlad and something instead of giving up Rashard? BTW, Rashard has had a great year so far, he's stepped up quite well after a questionable finish to last year. He's been the most consistent Sonic so far and doing it against the Artests and Kirilenkos so props to him.
I dont think its a good idea, Artest says he doesnt really want to go to the west..So why get Artest when he will be a disgruntled player?..Artest also stated that whatever team he goes to he will leave at the end of his contract to go to NY... Ill support the trade tho, I think if we get Artest we will be soo much better defensively..But then again I dont think Artest would like it.
i'd love to see him in a sonics jersey because im an artest fan but i doubt it would work out well. somehow i just dont see artest in seattle working. it just doesn't seem right. anybody get what i'm saying? haha
I can't see it happening for a number of reasons. 1) He is everything Howard Schultz says he DOESN'T want on the team. 2) He would walk all over Weiss. 3) He will not stay past the end of his contract, and at least Lewis is amenable to working out a deal. Opting out for Lew is not about leaving Seattle, it is about getting paid for taking the next step in his development, which he has since he signed the last one. 4) Seattle is not a exactly a hot scene for Ron's style of music. 5) He plays defense, and we don't play defense...it might scare the other Sonics.

Boom Squad rocks, though until recently their routine was starting to get stale, I think they lost a couple of guys this summer. The dunking ushers lost all their best dunkers from last year, and the dance team may be nice to look at, but they haven't been fun to watch for a few years now, maybe I'm just old and married. The Boom Squad and the dog racing are about the only things interesting outside of the game at the arena these days. The color changing costume people (Quick Change?) annoy me and I have had it with the Unicycle lady (Red Panda?) kicking bowls on her head over the past few years of Sonics and Storm games. The little kids playing basketball are way more fun, and my kid likes the mascot wrestling, but that really isn't my thing. I thought the Beale Street guys were way better a few years ago, I kept waiting for Desmond Mason to go out and join them. I just don't think Artest would be too excited by the Seattle music scene.
I think that'd be about right...in fact, if I was Indiana, I'd be targeting Shard much more than Peja...Shard has a much better all-around game, and rebounds the ball well...IMO, Shard will be the best that will be offered for Artest, if this offer is on the table...an Artest-Allen combo would be deadly...

small piece in the PI... http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/basketball/252005_srevu14.html Who knows?...it could happen...
it would be kinda cool if we got him...even though he's gonna leave at the end of the year. Might as well give it a shot.
The wise and powerful Tony Meija has decided the deal should be Vlade, Nick and Mateen for Artest. No way do we give up the first PF we have had since the last lockout ruined Baker and Kemp. Never happen for a guy who WON'T stick around.
no...we cant give up collison. What i was thinking....maybe Vlade, Reggie and mateen or brunson. Artest is 6'8 and like 260ish...he can probably slip into the PF spot. We would start: C- Collison PF- Artest SF- Rashard SG- Ray PG- Luke hm....
I think Lew is more likely to play the 4 in that scenario...he plays quite a bit of it already since he is the only post scorer we have.
