Now that it looks like the Blazers have their new Head Coach selected, who will be added as Assistants?

With a first time HC with not a lot of experience, one would think they would look to add someone with experience on the bench much like Nash did with D'Antoni in New Jersey.

One name that already came up is David Fizdale who supposedley has a new outlook on life after his experience with the Knicks. Another name is Dave Joeger who is currently and assistant with the 76'ers but has ties to Olshey.

Billups will likely have some of his own preferences to fill out his staff but wouldn't be surprised to see a former HC as lead assistant.

D'Antoni's interview did go VERY well and I think he would be a great addition to go with Billups. But Nash is his guy in Brooklyn. Doubt he leaves there for a lateral move at this point. Doubt Becky does either as she could be the heir apparent in SA after Pops becomes the all-time wins leader.

Used to be that we had the richest owner who could make the difference which assistant coach job looked more appealing...

Okay, then I nominate someone like Pete Carril or Tex Winter. (Only alive and younger than 90.)

What's Larry Brown doing these days?

If what this guy says means that we had to hire Billups or Dame would ask for a trade...

...then get ready for Assistant Coach Blevins!

Fizdale and Ham would be near the top of my list. Probably have to do a little more digging on who’s available and who Billups has relationships with.

I think he’ll be back. He wasn’t one of the guys dame said bye to in his IG post from a couple weeks ago.

Sounds like Fizdale. Not that I know anything. I’m not sure what Billups strengths and weaknesses are, but a couple of former head coaches would be awesome
Ham would be great. Not sure how or why it happens though

He’s the best. Not sure he’s into moving to Portland at this point. Worth a shot

Bring Vanterpool back. I think it's highly unlikely he gets an HC position somewhere else.

As I said in another thread days ago, I want someone who was previously an NBA head coach.
