I thought I'd make this thread to keep everyone up to date on who we have on our team and what the lineup will be next season. I'll update this when we acquire someone via trade or a signing, I thought this would be useful so here it is. I will leave unsigned Free Agents that played for us last year out of the mix until they're signed.

    Roster:
    Josh Childress, #1, G-F, 6'8", 210lbs
    Jason Collier, #40, C, 7'0", 260lbs

    Royal Ivey, #36, G, 6'3", 200lbs
    Joe Johnson, #2, G-F, 6'7", 230lbs
    Zaza Pachulia, #27, F-C, 6'11", 255lbs
    Donta Smith, #15, G-F, 6'7", 215lbs
    Josh Smith, #5, G-F, 6'9", 225lbs
    Marvin Williams, #24, F, 6'9", 230lbs
    Salim Stoudamire, #20, G, 6'1", 179lbs
    John Edwards, #54, C, 7'0", 275lbs
    Tony Delk, #00, G, 6'2", 189lbs
    Tyronn Lue, #10, G, 6'0", 178lbs
    Esteban Batista, #11, 6'9", 240lbs

Total Number of Players Under Contract: 14

    Lineup:
    PG: Joe Johnson/Tyronn Lue/Salim Stoudamire/Royal Ivey
    SG: Josh Childress/Salim Stoudamire/Donta Smith/Joe Johnson
    SF: Josh Smith/Marvin Williams/Donta Smith
    PF: Al Harrington/Marvin Williams/Esteban Batista/John Edwards
    C: Zaza Pachulia/Esteban Batista/John Edwards

great idea. what i don't like is Royal Ivey so far behind in the depth chart. the chart is right, and its not your fault, I just really liked Ivey, and was hoping he'd get more playing time the year. guess not. too bad too, he is a GREAT defender

Me too, I really like Ivey. But his offensive skills are subpar so I dont have him higher up on the depth chart but depending on what happens he could be higher up.

Damn, we're loaded except at center. I somehow get the feeling Stoudamire's gonna start a lot of games. I'm curious to see how the minutes even out. JJ and JC will probably get the most minutes.

Do you mean at SF? If you think about it, he could be a pretty darn god 6th man.

^ but dude, he's a 5 tool player. there are only like 3 in the eniter league. it would be a shame to bench someone with his talent.

I'd still give him a lot of minutes. It's just that I want Salim to start.. [IMG]

I like the lineup, however I think it will look like this by seasons end.

    PG- Salim
    SG- Joe Johnson
    SF- Josh Smith
    PF- either Al or Marvin
    C- Zaza

Guys please use punctuation and capitalization in your posts, it makes them easier to read.

Theirs no reason the Atlanta Hawks would use the 6th overall selection on Josh Childress if they didnt want him to start. And Josh Childress is a 2 gaurd, the franchise and the coach, Mike Woodson consider him that. Knight likes to draft versatile players so we can have anyone fill in when needed thats why Childress was logging minutes at the 3 and Smith at the 4.

I love Salim just as much as the next guy but at 6'1" do you guys think he can gaurd SG's like Kobe, Vince, T-Mac, or even Jamal Crawford effectively? No. Salim at this time is better off coming from the bench and logging minutes at PG and even at SG for limited time when the match is in his favor, like playing a less offensive minded SG like Doug Christie or a smaller SG like David Wesley.

An article mentioned Billy Knight is trying to build an unconventional team. How about this starting lineup for next season ...

    PG - Joe Johnson
    SG - Josh Childress
    SF - Josh Smith
    PF - Marvin Williams
    C - Al Harrington

The Hawks will probably be one of the worst defensive teams in the league, but they'll be exciting and could run a lot of teams off the court. For every basket Harrington concedes to Shaq, Duncan, etc., he can just sprint down the floor right after and throw down a dunk.

if that were to happen, I think Smitty would probally play C, since he's such a good shot-blocker.

That lineup would give up 120 points every single night. Wow. The Hawks need to quit trying to outsmart everyone and get some true guards, rather than just stocking up on every young wing player they can possibly get their hands on.

I'm failing to see the similarities. DET is defense-first, we're going to be "run, run, run"

Jesus christ, they have 8 SG/SF's!

I think their best team would be:

    C - Al Harrington
    PF - Marvin Williams
    SF - Josh Smith
    SG - Joe Johnson
    PG - Salim Stoudemire
