http://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...ba-prospect-bol-bol-season-oregon-enter-draft Wonder if he will still try and come out this year like projected. Tough news for the young kid.
My guess is he goes and tries to get that NBA money before he gets his foot hurt again. Honestly, I don't know if I would want to be the team to draft him... How often do guys that big with foot issues work out? I'm not cheering for him to fail or anything like that, but that cannot have been good for his draft stock, hopefully, he's ok and can impress in June.
All that hype over so little! Even healthy there wasn't enough there to justifiy the predictions he would be a top 5 pick. Sadly, some team will ignore the history of big men with bad feet and his limited on court success and waste a 1st round pick on him. Please don't let it be Portland!
I disagree to a degree not necessarily about his NBA future. But he was quickly becoming a dominant college player. In less than 30 minutes he was averaging 21pts, 10reb, & 3blks while shooting 56% on FG's and 52% on three's. And that after starting slow over the first 3 games. He was living up to the hype and to me I was projecting him as the Pac-12 player of the year and in the all-NCAA conversation. thing is he was flashing the potential of being a modern NBA big...somebody who could work inside or go outside beyond the arc. On the other hand, he was rail-thin and definitely a project. even though I'm a big duck fan, I wouldn't use a t0p-5 pick on him and that caution might stretch to top-10. After the injury, maybe not even a lottery pick; those stress fractures of the foot are scary for the future
He led the ducks in scoring, rebounding, and blocks. Doesn't seem like hype to me. Sorry it didn't work out. Your dad was fun to watch in the NBA, I hope you enjoy good health and a long career.
The injury potential is a legitimate long term concern. But it is the one and only thing that can keep him from being a star. His skill level is extremely high. Anyone who can't see it did not watch all his games. I was actually shocked to see how good he was so quickly.
He played the whole regular season in college and dominated. He didn't play any post season though due to his back.
That's a tough call. It seems like there is always somebody who is willing to gamble on an injured player - but there are enough red flags here that he really should fall out of the lotto. And yes, I admit to being paranoid about players with what could easily be chronic injuries.
Yes. Then there's Bill Walton, Sam Bowie, Arvydas Sabonis, Greg Oden, etc etc etc. The Basketball Gods hate the Blazers having big men. Let's just not tempt fate.
I don’t understand how folks can say he was overhyped. Not many people put up the stats he was putting in the NCAA as a freshman, let alone alone at any age of experience in the NCAA. Sure, his game needs some work, but injuries aside, you have to like his potential. Wishing him the best of health for the future.
How many freshmen come in and put up those stats? Or even seniors? Bol was a big part of that team, though, as is the injured Wooten. The Ducks did have some high expectations this year....
