http://arizonasports.com/story/662787/charles-barkley-nba-never-been-worse-meet-bruce-arians/ I love Chuck; he speaks his mind and while his takes are sometimes hot for heat's sake, he get to the meat of things effectively. Which four would you buy tix for? OKC, GSW, PDX, mayyyybeeee SAS, mayyyyebeee MIN?
One. If I had the money and ability to be in multiple places at once, a helluva lot more. But I don't think the NBA sucks at all. I love this high paced, amazing offense era. I love how every team has a dynamic PG, and is trying to get more skill in the front court positions while putting aside the need for true size. In my mind this era is so much better than the late 90s and early 00s.
OKC, GSW, POR, SAP, OKC, Thst's about it. If I lived in another NBA market I'd just do cable tv (like I do now.)
1. Charles sucks right now and always 2. If I could afford season tickets for the Blazers I would buy them....and they are the only team I would buy them from...ever
That's what I'm saying over here: http://www.sportstwo.com/threads/golden-state-warriors-overrated-or-no.301057/page-3#post-3909865 The talent level in the NBA is at an all-time low (speaking only of modern-era NBA). LBJ is the only* player that belongs with the greats of the 80s/90s, but he's no longer playing at the level that put him there. *Edit - forgot Wade.
It's cyclical; the talent level just before the merger was pretty meager too. Hopefully conventional wisdom will move back towards 4-year guys after seeing success stories like Dame and CJ. Also, the NCAA game needs to more closely resemble the NBA game to help with the talent level.
Nostalgia ain't what it use to be. I can appreciate some of the all time greats from the past. But I must say, I'm impressed with the skill level of today's athletes. I look at some of the old films, and there's a lot of skinny guys that I remember being a lot stronger (Barkley not being one of those skinny guys). Although I root against them, I respect the sheer talent of some of the top players (on other teams) in the league right now. Curry, Westbrook, James, Durant, Paul, and George to name a few. Some of the living legacies like Duncan, Wade and Nowitzki. Some up and comers like Towns and Porzingis. Although I'm a die-hard Blazer fan, I enjoy watching NBA basketball. Even when the Blazers went thru some pretty ugly years, I enjoyed being a season ticket holder just to watch the game. Yes, some of the all star treatment drives me crazy. But overall, this is a fun game to watch.
If I were buying season tickets, it'd be for the local team, except Chicago. I'd at least want to see the visiting teams play the hometown team.
There are very few teams I could not watch live. That list is bigger for those that I cannot watch on TV. Being at the arena does make a difference. The biggest reason in deciding whether to be a season ticket holder for me would be money.
Makes a huge difference, and you in part helped me make the decision. But your right, the biggest factor in that decision was the money.
I wonder if anyone has season tickets to both the Lakers and the Clippers. I guess there are some east coast teams that you could also do that without too much travel. barfo
Other than the Blazers, I'd get season tickets for the Raptors. Great fanbase. They're a pure fanbase too (as in no bandwagon fans).
To me there are two problems. First, young players don't learn fundamentals or team basketball. Second, the game management by the sucky referees ruins the sport of the sport.
Chuck: "Jump Shooting Teams Can't Win." Chuck: "Jump Shooting Teams Can't Win." Chuck: "Jump Shooting Teams Can't Win." Chuck: Regularly uses "Jump Shooting Team" as a pejorative. Reality: A Jump Shooting Player wins MVP twice in a row, the second time, unanimously. Reality: A Jump Shooting Team won a championship. Reality: All teams are becoming Jump Shooting Teams, because that's the smartest way to play with a 3-point line. Chuck: "The NBA sucks right now."
Except now GS is down 1-3 in WCF. And last year, GS only played injured teams. Maybe jump shooting teams CANT win a championship.
