This move virtually ensures that the Bears will be less talented at WR than they were last season. If they get rid of Cutler, you can add QB to the talent downgrade. Personally, I think Marshall is sort of a typical primadonna stud wideout. The problem with Marshall was that he stepped into a team leadership vacuum. You pretty much never want a typical primadonna stud wideout to be high in the team leadership hierarchy...they're just too damn weirdly narcissistic. I had hopes that the new regime would be able to fix things without employing a "scorched earth" approach, but alas, I stand disappointed though not surprised.
No matter what one thinks of Cutler, the Bears have rarely had a QB as good. The grass isn't necessarily greener. But he is REALLY expensive.
NFL starting QBs are REALLY expensive. Josh McCown absolutely sucked last season in Tampa, got cut and is still getting $5mil in Cleveland. Cutler's interception rate is often pointed to as his Achilles heel, but I think his aloof, non-leader personality should share this honor.
When it comes to Bears' QBs, the last thing I want to see done is bringing anyone back. Few NFL teams have their record for futility at that position.
