Via SportsTwo: <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>CHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Chicago Bears have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with quarterback Rex Grossman, the team announced announced Saturday. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed. The embattled Grossman, 27, appeared in eight games - including seven starts - last season, completing 122-of-225 passes for 1,411 yards with four touchdowns and seven interceptions. One season after leading the Bears to a 13-3 record and their first Super Bowl appearance in 21 years, Grossman lost his starting job to Brian Griese for six games. He was able to reclaim his job in Week 11 before a sprained knee ended his season three weeks later. In five seasons with Chicago, Grossman has completed 489-of-900 passing attempts for 5,907 yards, 31 touchdowns and 33 interceptions.</div> Umm, I know there's not a lot out there in free agent QB land, but geez.
Great deal for the bears! 1 Year deal, so there is no cap risk, and they can still look at other options
It's a good move. Grossman now knows that it's put up or shut up time. This will be his last chance to prove himself, methinks.
Not too much risk here. It's only a one year deal, so if he doesn't do anything this year, they don't have to bring him back. Plus, he still has potential. He's still a young guy. For him, it's just a matter of fixing his mechanics and having better reads. He's shown he can play well sometimes, he just needs to show it consistently.
Well, Greg Olsen does look like he could be a very good TE down the line. Bernard Berrian is also developing, he just needs to become more than a deep threat.
If Rex doesn't get it done his name will coincide with Cade McNowns and wait every other Bears QB since the 80's. This franchise can;t get it right, I don;t care how small of a risk it is. If you bench a guy and he does jack for you, you start clean and get rid of him. Show the team your ready for change. Trade up and get Matt Ryan or pick Brohm in the second, if he lasts, his stock seems to be falling. Or theres always trade for vet... Grossman is a scrub.
I always wonder about guys who were hyped up and seemed to have all the tools but didn't pan out. Does Grossman just need a change of scenery to succeed? Didn't work for McClown. What about David Carr? He's one of those guys, and he's just been cut loose. Change of scenery and a chance to start for the Bears enough to turn his career around?
