So, I'm trying to shed some belly fat, and I want to know the best way to do so. I herd one of the best ways is running. I'd like to know some other ways too. Thanks!
Spot reducing weight does not work. but, you can do abdominal exercises to help lose the fat around your hips.
My cousin the marathon runner swears that keeping your heart rate around 140 or 145 while exercising is the fat-burning rate, and that more vigorous exercise will start burning muscle or something. But, yeah, losing weight is hard to do- your body will fight you every step of the way. Just make slow progress, because what you really want to be doing is lowering your set point- otherwise, you'll just gain it all back. Or take medication.
Use those purple yoga balls. You guys probably think thats queer, but its actually a great workout. I use it daily & its much easier than going to the gym and dealing with the crowd. Try popping in one of the DVDs that comes with it, and doing like a 20 minute workout. It also helps with balance in case any of you guys are trying to work on that to improve your game.
just run everyday for like an hour, you working almost every part of your body. and do crutches, and believe it or not dance alot LOL.
run four or five days a week. Try to get up to about five miles each workout. Run sprints once a week if you can--go to a track, and sprint for a half lap, jog for a half lap, sprint, jog, etc. One week do quarter laps; one week do full laps. Including a one-mile warm up and one-mile cool down, you should run about seven miles. Do sit-ups every day. Jump rope. Swim laps.
Don't crunches help more than situps? Swimming laps is one of the best things you can do. Over one summer of intense swimming, I lost ~15 pounds of flab, while growing ~4 inches (puberty helps too, I guess).
. . . .notice that none of the responses involve using any of theose new-fangled machines or weights.
Get the electric Abtronic 3000. Just by wearing it you will lose your bear belly from its massaging pulses!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (#1_Yinka_Dare_Fan @ Jun 14 2008, 08:20 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Don't crunches help more than situps?</div> Crunches do help the stomach more on most people, than Sit-ups, because alot of people don't use their stomach muscles to do sit-ups. Alot of the people use their hip flexer muscles which don't do anything to your abdominal muscles, as their sit up, which is why if you do sit-ups and close to your thigh/groin muscle is hurting, your using the hip flexer muscles. So crunches do help more, just for that simple fact. Mostly to help loose body mass, you want to do a few things, like running 4 or 5 times a week, usually to get your heart-rate up to 140-145 and that helps you to start fat burning.Although, I have never once heard that you start loosing muscle if you go past. Being in the Army, I have seen quite a few people push themselves past that heart-rate regularly and they have alot of muscle. Usually, it doesn't so much involve running long distances to get up to that, as running for a set time limit at a certain pace. Like running at a decent pace for 20-30 minutes really starts to burn weight. After you run, since your body is in the process of sweating and getting that stuff out, that's when you should start getting to the stomach exercises. The crunch's, the oblique exercises, aussie crunch's, and using the ball to do stuff. Probably most important, is stop drinking the 12 packs if you want to get some of that out. Beer sets on the stomach, and produces the pot bellies, or as we refer to as beer bellies. I have developed a decent one, but luckily for my size, you can't really tell unless my shirt is off.
Crunches help me a bit, but i can only do 30 in a row every 10 min, because my breath somehow leaves me then.
