The Big East has called off a meeting at which the possibility of a nationwide football superconference was to be discussed, a source told ESPN.com's Andy Katz. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that the meeting, between officials from the Big East, the Mountain West and Conference USA, was to take place Wednesday. The MWC and C-USA already have agreed to a two-conference football association with a scheduling agreement and championship game, starting in 2012 or 2013.
