Get off the bandwagon. Love listening to this guy, but he wanted to break up Dame/CJ just a month ago.
Interesting that he's comparing us to the '90 Suns, considering how many times I've seen people try to compare Connaughton to Majerle and Collins to Chambers. The parallels aren't far off.
I think we're closer to the 1990 Pistons, to be honest. Nurk is Laimbeer, Ed is John Salley, Dame and CJ are Isiah and Joe. Bazz is Vinnie.
Lol these guys talking about staggering Harden and Paul in the lineup and we're like "we've been doing this for three years now".
After them talking about Westbrook approaching the trip-doub mark again, I had to look. He's 21 total behind a 10 rpg pace, with 10 games left to go. I could absolutely see him doing it again.
Wasn't there a stat at one point this season that showed us having a nice plus/minus when dame and CJ both rested at the same time with Napier playing?
I enjoy Bill, but yeah, he usually doesn't think highly of the Blazers. Even if you don't like him, this is that national media some were complaining about not getting.
The triple double wasn't a tracked stat until 1982 or so when some Laker broadcaster noticed Magic getting 10/10/10 a lot and decided to make it a good thing to pump up Magic with. Nobody gave a shit about them in the 80's or even much in the 90's. Both guys agree the stat is bullshit, and really a 27/7/7 ("the Lebron") or 35/10/10 (which apparently Westbrook has a ton of) is way more interesting to track. A standard triple double is just arbitrary and dull, and popular mostly because of Ice Cube.
I actually think this team is closer to the 2017-18 TrailBlazers. Tough on defense and can shoot lights out. There have been very few teams that can say that.
I guess one listen won't kill me. I'll be surprised if he isn't kissing Bird's ass somewhere during the podcast though.
Bill Simmons? Man I thought that guy fell off the face of the earth. For awhile he was all over the place and then gone. Never really cared for him that much.
