The Chicago Blackhawks have been busy this summer keeping the gang together while staying under the salary cap. Luckily for them coaches don't count on the cap so re-signing coach Joel Quenneville was an easier proposition one that was completed on Friday. The Blackhawks said on Thursday they had a "major announcement" to make and it was just as many expected: an announcement of Quenneville's new three-year contract extension. That's what happens when a coach leads a franchise to two Stanley Cups in a span of four years the most recent being won a few weeks back. The goal now will be to try and win a few more before his new contract runs out. "I'm privileged to coach probably the best group in the league" Quenneville said on Friday. With the new deal added onto the remaining year on his current contract Quenneville is slated to be in Chicago through the 2016-17 season.
