Just borrowing a page from Rastapopolous and representing Kissinger and associates here...what about trading Roy for Paul? http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2883d6a Portland Out: Roy Miller JPEC Portland In: Paul Posey Julian Wright or a variant: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=249q8q7 Portland Out: Roy Miller JPEC Camby Portland In: Paul Posey Julian Wright Okafor Some think Roy's game is reduced greatly by Paul handling the rock so much. Other's contend the biggest benefactors of Paul would in descending order be: Oden, LMA and Batum (3 balls / Slashing). What say you folks would you trade the face of the franchise for Chris Paul?
I've said for over a year I'd trade Roy for Chris Paul and I still would. How much more I'd offer and what comes back is debateable.
It's not even a question worth talking about because it would do nothing for NOH. If they wanted to have a max $ player who's unhappy about being there, they'd keep the one they have.
I think Paul Rudy Batum LA Oden with Bayless Wes and Camby off the bench is a hell of a squad... seriously badass. They'd have a deluxe Go guy in Paul who could break down defenders to set up wing outside shooters or run pick and rolls with LA and Oden or get his own... offense wouldn't be a problem at all. If everyone is healthy, the D would probably be even better with a 1st team All-D guy in Paul at the point and arguably the best frontcourt in hoops. Roy for Paul? Yes please, I'll take the upgrade. STOMP
I would do it. Paul rather than Roy makes this team significantly better and I think that the combination of winning and Paul Allen's money would easily be enough to keep him in Portland for a long time. Ed O.
One of the dumber polls I've seen here. Why would New Orleans want to take on Roy's contract? Why would Paul want to stay in Portland?
Funny the majority of the forum see B. Roy as slightly more tradeable then Oden. about 40% see Roy as a deal breaker with 60% roughly seeing Oden as a deal breaker. Looks like you are in the minority.
2009/10 PER leaders. Just an opinion backed by almost every stat available. At least valid as your opinion.
Sure, I'd trade Roy for Paul. Paul is a much better player and at least provides the hope of a double superstar situation if Oden stays healthy and keeps developing. Roy is probably going to top out as a star, not a superstar. But I agree with those who say that A. New Orleans is not going to want Roy and B. Paul isn't going to want to be here without Roy.
Probably true. The same might be said of Oden who is owed 5.5 million this year and will probably want 11 Million or so the season after or he will walk. Yet, there are 2 or 3 threads on trading him. Seemed an equal question to me in that both should be off the table for different and overlapping reasons.
But he can't walk. He's an RFA. Unless you think Oden is so confident in himself (and his health) that he'll be able to take the QO.
