Even though he didn't get them, it's nice to know Olshey is swinging for the fences in his coaching search. It would be great to get a Hall of Fame coach like Sloan or Jackson that can coach a real offense, but I'd also be happy with an up and coming proven assistant like Budenholzer or Malone.

Vecsey is now saying that it's false that Phil Jackson turned it down. He claims that Jackson would come but that Olshey doesn't want him to:

If you're gonna end up with a coaching change, do it soon, not later. Guys like Dame and Meyers are learning a system now in SL, once a new coach comes in that system will change. You're not doing your drafted 'franchise point guard' and favors by switching up coaches and philosophy on him.

He used to be spot on when doing the draft about who would go to whom in the next few picks. But he's such a colossal asshole you've got to think he burns bridges with every reliable source.

Consider the source but Peter Vescey (via B-Edge) said Phil would like to come in ........as team president.

Seems like vescey is trying to invoke legaries name as much as possible. Trying to get PA to sew seeds of doubt in his shiny new asskicking GM? Vesceys been a tool/mouthpiece before. But I'd see what woj has to say. He had a major hard-on for either Portland in general or kp/Penn/legarie in particular.

I would think that if Paul Allen wanted Phil Jackson he wouldn't really care what others want.

Oh that sounds believable.... first that Jackson would even want to come to this place which has no A) superstar or B) large market to flaunt his celebrity. But to make it even more absurd (bravo Vescey) he claims that we don't want him.

God, I remember when I was a little kid and every year Vecsey would say that Derrick Coleman is about to get traded to The Blazers.

Never happened. He repeated it, year after year.

Pretty much my thought also. Phil has a history of going with ready made winners. The fact that he lives in Montana has no bearing. Its his professional history I go by.

These have been some of the strangest reports ever. Phil turns us down to we turned phil down... Makes no sense at all.
