Surprise! Moda is being torn down in order to add buildings with businesses on the bottom and apartments on top with very little parking anywhere.
Yes it is the MC. I bet the Rose Garden was being used by something else, and they needed to use the MC instead. I know the Winterhawks are hosting the Neely cup right now, so maybe that is why? That is assuming the video is from the last few days, as I don't know when the video of the old floor being stripped, sanded, repainted and stained was shot.
It's to the point where surrounding areas (Scapoose, Troutdale, Vancouver, Milwaukie, Oregon City, McMinville, Salem etc) are more appealing than Portland, despite the potential increase in commute (well, maybe not McMinville and Salem). Driving up Division is so strange now. It's so different than just 5 years ago, let alone 10-15. And traffic..holy shit, wtf happened?? Rush hour is now like 2pm on. Er, yes i like the new floor design.
I'm a native Portlander who moved to the southernmost 'burbs over 30 years ago in order to cut my work commute in half. I resented it for years. Portland was the be all and end all and I was a Portland boy to the core. Then, when Portland started to boom (and insist on shitty ideas like bike lanes, light rail, high rises and no additional parking) I became very, very smug because I didn't have to deal with the results of the aforementioned stupid planning. My little burg was clean, safe and uncongested. Unfortunately, that is changing as the sprawl continues to overtake ALL the surrounding suburbs. The other day (stuck in traffic yet again in the middle of the morning) I seriously for the first time since I moved out here pondered moving down the valley (Salem being the venereal wart I would never, EVER consider. Apologies to @Dougnsalem). Unfortunately at this stage in my life, moving elsewhere just isn't a real wise consideration, all factors taken into account. But I would encourage the younger folks who can afford it to get out while the getting is good because it's only going to get worse. BG did and I envy the shit outta him. Portland, for all its remaining charms is no longer worth the time and hassle.......
Needed a place not in use for a couple days where they wouldn't get interrupted. Once it's done, it'll be torn down and put back together next door
I am by no means a Salem native, but I do live here currently. I'll be moving soon, and am excited to see where fate lands me. I have to ask though, why is it a "veneral wart". I mean, I'm not a huge fan either but have lived all around Oregon, it's not the worst place to live in this region.
I'd be shocked if they dont put Rip City back on the court. They are probably updating it since it is made with all the names of season ticket holders.
Was just talking to someone about Division. Holy shit! You can barely see the sky as you drive along it. The lanes are almost as narrow as the lanes on Hawthorne (though Hawthorne has two lanes each way). There are long lines at half the spots in the trendy areas on Division. I moved out to McMinnville 20 months ago. Super happy with that decision. I live near the main old town drag (3rd street) of restaurants, bars, and tasting rooms. It often gets a lot of mentions as one of the best old town main streets in America. I find it hard to disagree. The city has voted on a couple of projects to bring a couple of the hot/popular areas together, and the bonds pass easily, and the city makes them priorities to get done (can't believe how quickly and easily this city works). They have their shit together. Sucks for days I want to attend Blazer games, though I kinda prefer to enjoy the games from the comfort of my own home (and bar and kitchen). Lotta money moving into the area with the wine industry booming and the focus on making the area a destination. But still a small-town feel with the miles of farm land in every direction.
