Current Roster (12): Lillard/WB4/Simons McCollum/Trent Harkless/Turner Collins/Aminu Nurk/Swanigan/Biebs Others (Need 3 or fewer): Pat C.: (Easily Replaced) Coach likes him. Trent can step in. Ed Davis: (Likely Replaced) If we use the TPE, we won't be re-signing him... unfortunately, I really like him. Collins can step in. PapaG: (Easily Replaced) We have a lot of centers without him. Layman: (Easily Replaced) Never learned to shoot well enough. Shabazz: (Easily Replaced) S2 conventional wisdom is that he'll be too expensive, especially given our cap constraints. Baldwin can step in. As of today, who are we keeping? Who's gone? Why?
Trent is not a guarantee as a 2nd round pick he has no guaranteed contract. But since we spent two picks on him then yes it is highly likely he is on the team. What we might do and what I want us to do are likely two different things. I would bring Ed and maybe even Papa G back (I still think there is a chance that Leonard is moved). Layman and Shabazz and Pat C can go. Pat C might stay if we strike out on everything. Bring in a SF with the TPE.
Questions: Doesn't Layman have one more year? Papa G also? or are those non-guaranteed? I would imagine they might try and keep WB4 on the cheap. Given the draft and cost I can't imagine Pat and Napier on the team. If no other moves, then Davis stays. If they have to absorb a big then Davis goes. Nothing here we don't already all know. The big mystery is will they be able to negotiate to get a defensive wing who can shoot? Hopes and Dreams: 1) ET has value, just not on our team. Hoping some other team wants to pick him up on the cheap. 2) Meyers needs a new start. Given his athletics and shooting seems like someone might be willing to trade contracts just to give him a shot. You can't teach mobile 7'1".
Suns may renounce a bunch of dudes: https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2018/06/suns-may-renounce-elfrid-payton-alex-len-others.html I find Tyler Ennis interesting.
Davis will be kept, if they aren’t trading CJ they aren’t letting Dames buddy walk away either. I highly doubt that TPE is even used but I really hope it is.
Elfrid just needs to cut his hair. There was a great Reddit post about how it literally gets in the way of his shooting form. And his percent with and without is clear.
Not sure who Papa G is but i wouldn't replace any of the players you suggested*. Our PF isn't Power Forward at all and your Centers are the Power Forwards. Your Power Forwards would be easily replaced *Maybe Laymen
I would not be surprised to see Layman on the team next season. He's been present at all the workouts unlike Bazz and Patty C
Layman is super cheap, and knows the system. Seems similar to connaughton last year where everyone was certain he'd be waved. If we desperately need a roster spot? Sure, waive him. Otherwise, hes a 13th man. Those guys aren't going to have a big impact on a season.
I think the Warriors Kevin Looney at 22 years of age would be a good acquisition...won't cost much...fits the youth curve we have on the bench...won't break the bank either
Effing Bleacherreport - doesn't list height, weight, or position. Here's their SF list http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...ings-2018-top-available-small-forwards#slide1
Montrezl Harrell has always interested me. He's a true energy guy, kind of reminds me of a poor mans Julius Randall. He would look real good coming off the bench for Collins, he doesn't need plays run for him because he gets his points from hustle, cutting to the hoop for dunks and grabbing offensive rebounds/putbacks. No idea what he will command in free agency and he is restricted.
I think Pat and Napier have already been replaced. Layman is probably gone, but might not be until end of July. Davis should be back, regardless of TPE. This team should be committed to being heavy in the tax if they’re not going to trade CJ. No other way to improve. I think papa g was signed for a reason. Is he eligible for a two way?
