In today’s NBA it’s much easier to clear the paint if your center is a good 3 point shooter. Plus they usually have the most open shot because centers don’t like guarding someone out to the 3 pt line. His shot looks good but a bit slow dare I say slow like Meyers Leonard’s shot (not as bad). Looks like he was a very good pick at 7

 

Yep as you alluded to centers are usually open out there so his slow release does not concern me. He just needs to be a threat to shoot them, not a high volume 3-point shooter.

 

I've seen Pat Connaughton and Allen Crabbe become rotational pieces after looking awful in SL.

Don't want to make too rash judgements on Murray but it's not looking great

 

I don't believe that theory is proven. Opposing C's did not chase Nurkic out to the 3 point line the season he shot the most three's. They left him open and they let him shoot them. Now, part of that might have been defenses were a lot more concerned about Dame when he was on the floor with Nurkic, Still, defenses didn't really flex toward Nurkic at the arc, at least not that I saw, so I'm skeptical there will be opposing bigs leaving the paint regularly if Clingan is lurking 20-25' from the rim

I was thinking that the Blazers were drafting Clingan with the hope he'd be a physical presence in the paint on both ends of the floor. That he would be like Gobert with better passing, or a rich man's Przybilla, not like Meyers Leonard. Yeah, that's a bit of hyperbole

speaking of Nurkic, the season he had his highest 3ptFGA rate was also the season he had his lowest offensive rebounding rate. And it sure seems to be the case that possessions after offensive rebounds are some of the most valuable possessions in the game

Kris has one of my least favorite qualities… “invisible 94% of the time, competing with not much real advantage the rest of the time”.

He’s not the worst by any means, just totally mediocre. Purely a great guy. I’ve got zero expectations, and also believe our rotation and bench has more qualified individuals for the PT.

 

crabbe in yr 2 SL: 5.6 pts, 3.0 rebs, 1.0 asts, 1.4 to, 45% fg, 0% from 3 in 23 mpg

connaughton in yr 2 SL: 14.4 pts, 3.4 pts, 1.2 asts, 2.0 to, 35% FG, 27% from 3 in 32 mpg

murray in yr 2 SL: 7.5 pts, 6.8 rebs, 2.5 asts, 2.5 to, 33% FG, 22% from 3 in 31 mpg.

kris had much better numbers last year.

normally I wouldn’t be that guy, but I’ve seen it first hand and it’s legimately at least 7’3” currently (few inches taller than Sarr who is supposedly 7’1”

 

not many guys are that tall w/o shoes. I hope he keeps his weight at that level or lower

Officially measured at the combine at 7’ 1 3/4” without shoes, which means 7’3” ish in shoes
