we certainly cleaned out the bench scrubs! hope Claver gets a shot and plays well, Rice always liked Gee he'll have fun with that
Adrian Wojnarowski@WojYahooNBA 2m2 minutes ago Blazers will send Will Barton, Victor Claver, a future lottery protected 1st and a second-round pick to Denver for Afflalo and Alonzo Gee. Adrian Wojnarowski@WojYahooNBA · 52s 52 seconds ago Portland's sending 2016 first-round lottery protected pick. If not conveyed, becomes '17 lottery protected. After that, it's two future 2nds I know we have a trade thread but this deserves its own thread.
So depth chart now is: Rolo/Kaman/Joel LMA/Meyers/Wright Batum/Gee/Crabbe Wes/Afflalo/CJ Dam/Blake I'm very excited about the trade.
All players who were not anticipated to comeback next year. That is a lot of players, so it will effect the locker room, but I doubt any were happy with their role this year anyways. The 3 guard line up will get some play. Alonzo G is a throw in. He will never play for us.
That's the best part of this deal. When do you ever see three guys that almost never play net you a legit 6th man? I wonder how CJ feels about this. Could Afflalo's ballhandling allow CJ to displace Blake?
We'll now have an open roster spot. Might want to sign a big to a 10 day contract until Kaman/Joel get healthy and look who is available for buyouts. Prince doesn't make any sense now so we probably keep an eye open for a big.
You are right. He is fine as an end of bench player. But looking at the minutes if we want AA to resign this summer, then we need to get him minutes now. And they basically play the same position. G/F
If we make the WCF I'd be happy with the rental. Sure I hope Afflalo fits and Neil can find a way to keep everyone but these things don't always work out. The payoff is definitely worth the cost based on what we know right now. That can chance going forward and this deal could backfire with the pick range having a solid player. But Neil has to be willing to take those types of risks at some point and this was a good time to do it.
