Marks brings up some good stuff about what the Blazers can do this offseason. He also gave us some props for the Deni trade and increasing our win total.
that 15 win increase is kind of a bullshit gauge. The Blazers deliberately tanked the entire season in 2023-24 and blatantly tanked over the last half. How many wins would Portland have had if they had sold out to win every game like they did this season? 28? 30? 32? Increasing by 4-6 wins after adding Avdija and Clingan doesn't sound as good as ignoring the context and yammering about 15 wins also, he says Simons deserves an extension...fuck that
Guess I'll need to watch this - see it's only 1 day old. They had off-season guides on ESPN months ago so I assumed this was that old news at first glance.
It irritates me when these guys who have one of the best jobs in the world do a lazy piece on a team and just regurgitate crap without really understanding what's happening with a team. Saying that Ant "deserves" an extension is about as superficial a statement that you could say about their offseason.
This is Bobby Marks. It's what he does. He's actually pretty transparent about it. I don't know why I watch his stuff but I do and it always pisses be off and it's not just with our team. He admits that even though he used to be an assistant GM that he doesn't have any contacts anymore. What I don't think he says explicitly is that he only looks at numbers, has no clue about what teams are trying to do and makes some of the worst analysis. Again, I'm not sure why I watch his content but it's always bad.
It's funny because your not necessarily wrong but I still feel like he's more knowledgeable than 90% of the talking heads out there. He knows the cap well. He doesn't understand the Blazers as well as most of us here, and I don't think he'd claim otherwise. I find more value in listening to his analysis of other teams that I don't know much about.
