    I watched some of the specials on Popovic when he broke some record earlier this season. One of the things he often mentions in interviews is the importance of sitting vets so that role players are forced to carry a larger burden. Popovic views it as an essential part of building a team that's able to go deep in the playoffs. Thibodeau is never going to intentionally play his starters that way. But maybe these injuries will force his hand. Lets see where Mirotic, Snell and Brooks are a month from now. This could be for the best.

    How do we know that Thibs is coaching entirely as he wants to?

    He's being given minutes limits. Why isn't he also being told who to play (e.g. Hinrich)?

    I was thinking the same thing. PhilJax has mentioned this too in his books. Both of those guys have awesome track records with getting great play from unusual players.

    I think this is Thibs' biggest weakness as a coach, although his track record for developing players is very good. He just doesn't pace things very well.

    Snell, Niko, and McDermott are going to get a crash course in playing NBA basketball. D-Rose, Taj, and Jimmy are all going to get some rest. If they can make it back a week before the season ends it could turn out fine.

    As the seeding stands right now, we can still probably keep HCA for the first round. We'd have to tank pretty bad to fall behind Milwaukee or Washington.

    And its useful to ask: how does this team win a championship? I think you may need allstar type performances from Mirotic, Snell and Brooks for that to happen. These injuries are the type of thing that could (but almost certainly will not) turn the season around.

    Thibs has been an expert in previous years in dealing with losing guys. Let's hope there is enough talent on this team to get it done.

    For whatever reason, this squad doesn't seem to have the same defensive spark as previous groups.

    Butler is an all-league defender, but the other main guys, Noah and Gibson, have taken steps back while Gasol is a rotten defensive 5, especially in the Thibs scheme. And Butler and Gibson are gone for a spell.

    I wonder if we'll be seeing a lineup at some point soon with Hinrich/McBuckets/Niko and Gasol all playing at the same time. I wonder how that team will look getting stops.... not really a team built to win with defense.

    This whole season is a clusterf***. Hopefully the Bulls don't fall past the 5 seed and they can gel in the playoffs. The talent is supposedly here, although that's all predicated on Rose being at least an all-star level player, which he hasn't been this year.
