At that Time it was the right Move to draft a young Big man because we allready had Dame and CJ, what do you think the Knicks, Mavericks, Hornets, Pistons and Nuggets are thinking right Now? All these Teams drafted young Guards but not Mitchell
Always draft the best talent available over need. This franchise already doesn't have the best history with drafting for need instead of taking the best guy on the board. Not that it matters too much, but most of the mock drafts projected us to take Mitchell.
Everyone missed on the kid. I had him as my 2nd ROY candidate and was saying he could score 20 a game, but even I didn't really expect it. There's sleepers every year. To sit back and complain out of hindsight is pointless. Dudes a great person in a great situation, and Utah definitely deserves him. I'm glad he ended up going there. Collins will be great. People want immediate results. But Collins wasn't even supposed to play this year and had great moments in the playoffs and is a kid who works his ass off. Don't complain about him. CJ's rookie year, people could've complained about us not finding a way to get Michael Carter-Williams instead...
Wait hold up.... No mock drafts had Mitchell falling to 15 where we were originally selecting. You just made this up.
You realize that last year, I ran a draft MATRIX? It was where I took results from 17 well known mock drafts and put them into a matrix. You want the final picture? Here: Out of the top 16 mock drats (not couting my own, which is the black column on the left and I had Mitchell going 15th), only 1 of 16 had Mitchell going to us at 15. And it was Walter-Football, who you just linked. I guess I said "no mock drafts", but you said "most mock drafts had Mitchell going to us at 15." You don't know what you're talking about. Thanks for playing.
Hindsight is a beautiful thing, eh? Of course when you look back you would have traded CJ for Paul George (it would have looked like a better deal for Indiana than Oladipo, even though right now you would never take CJ ahead of him) and taken Mitchell at 10 and Kuzma at 26 but at the time drafting Collins seemed like the correct move. To be honest I still reckon Collins is going to have a big role here.
I hate when people based off hindsight. Nobody knew, that's the beauty of it. Who knows, if Mitchell came here, maybe he wouldn't have developed. If Oden was drafted 2nd, maybe Seattle doesn't mess up his knees and maybe he ends up better than Durant. Ya never know. I just love that the dude is arguing with someone who created a "mock draft matrix" last year about where mock drafts had a certain player. That's like me going to a rocket scientist and trying to argue with them about the workings of a rocket.
The mock drafts had him going mostly 15th so obviously we should have drafted him there based off the mock drafts.
Wow, you're so cool, "You realize that last year I ran a draft MATRIX" You straight up said that no mock drafts had him falling to us, yet you ran a matrix last year and showed 1 outlet projecting him to us. Obviously you didn't even pay attention to that matrix you ran so how did you expect anyone else to?
As a Blazer fan I've experienced way too many drafts where we have been mocked for who we selected. Mocked drafts are the worst.
1 out of 16 is closer to "none" than "most". I didn't say "no" as an absolute, just as a general reference. Obviously, I should've said "very few" for clarity's sake. But you said most, and you were wrong. Also, we should draft guys based on mock drafts from people who do little to no scouting?
Zach is going to be a stud. He has all the tools to be special including good work ethic, attitude to be great and he’s got great Bb IQ
