Last night the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs kicked off the sports betting NBA Conference Finals in a thrilling affair. The stalemate for much of the contest provided fans a glimpse of what they can expect in the NBA Finals. Historically, the Western Conference has been the stronger of the two NBA conferences, as the West has won the last three league championships. Thus as the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics renew hostilities, we wonder if either team can beat the winner of the West?

The Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs put on an absolute clinic in game one last night. San Antonio came out victorious, in what can easily be considered a robbery, as the Thunder looked like they would roll past their iconic foe. What was most interesting about last night’s game is that both teams were pretty much expected to battle it out for the Western Conference Championship. Luckily for fans and bookie software users at home, the duo lived up to the hype.

On the other hand, the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics could best be described as a default Eastern Conference Finals, after the Chicago Bulls suffered championship run injuries in the first round. This still has the makings of a good online sportsbook final, it’s just that nobody in their right mind believes that the Boston Celtics are going to deny the Miami Heat of their second consecutive NBA Finals appearances. What’s more? Both the Celtics and Heat almost saw their season’s come to an end in the second round, as the Heat survived a scare against the Indiana Pacers, and the Celtics almost felt the same fate as the Bulls, when they had to play seven games with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Since the Celtics struggled with Atlanta and then Philadelphia, should we really believe that one of the two oldest remaining trios in the playoffs can make it back to the Finals? In a cliché world, the Boston Celtics take on the San Antonio Spurs, in a battle of the geriatric ward trios, as Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen, battle it out with Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli. If this does indeed end up being the 5Dimes finals, expect the Spurs to decimate the Celtics, as they are riding a nine game win streak. Furthermore, the depth of the Spurs is making it difficult for any team to get by them.

The San Antonio Spurs and current opponent the Oklahoma City Thunder are the two best teams in the NBA. As of this writing, the Spurs and Thunder are a combined 16 and one and have yet to experience any catastrophic injuries. On the other hand, the Heat are without defensive catalyst Chris Bosh, and the Boston Celtics are showing their age. In our opinion, the East can’t defeat the West, because the two remaining Western Conference teams are just too good and too deep. It isn’t only Duncan, Parker and Ginobli destroying teams in their nine game win streak, it is also role players like Stephen Jackson, George Hill and Thiago Splitter. For the Thunder it is also a team effort, as everyone has bought into the system. This is something on too many nights you can’t say about the Heat or Celtics.
