Hey that's pretty cool! I guess if one reads enough, the mind doesn't really need to think about what it's supposed to say. It's sort of like how you develop speed reading, I think. You just sort of scan quickly and then bam you've already read through it.

Yeah, the first step in speed reading is to recognize your brain is faster than you think. You usually spend time reading words to yourself, which slows you down. Start reading entire words instead of letters, then entire sentences instead of words, then entire paragraphs instead of sentences. It takes a lot of practice, but at some point you'll read a lot faster, and understand ideas a lot faster. Of course, this works much better with stuff you're familiar with - something dense is bound to slow you down unless you know the general topic it's about.
