Or...... some of us love the Blazers, but hate the NBA.

Maybe it's because we were born here, so Blazer basketball is the only basketball we know. We didn't just shift our allegiances when we moved. The Blazers are deeply ingrained in our city. I do not watch any NBA team other than the Blazers. The league is corrupt, the game is a sham, and it sucks to see your favorite team lose again and again and again and again and again with no real chance of ever winning another championship. At some point it all seems like an exercise in futility. We know it's going to be the Warriors and the Cavs in the Finals every fucking year. That's extremely boring. Did anyone really think the Eagles were going to win the Super Bowl last year? At least the NFL is unpredictable.

But NBA fans are shifting. They follow stars more than they follow teams. The LeBron fans just follow him from team to team, wherever he goes.

It's an interesting take. Because the game does in fact change in the playoffs. So there is no question that the refs are influencing the game. In baseball the strike zone does not change in the post season. In football a late hit is a late hit mid season or playoffs. In Hockey icing is still icing. I think there is some manipulation in soccer but really who can deal with all the dramatic flailing around anyway?
Baseball does have an umpire who calls the plate but he is only one guy. Those calls are usually consistent for the game. if a ball is fair it is inside the line. If it is foul it's outside the line. The replay rules seem to be doing away with a bunch of close missed calls.

this I disagree with...there are some really bad pitches called strikes in baseball...it's not consistent at all.

A bad call is a bad call. But openly changing the way a strike is called doesn't happen. Certainly doesn't change to the degree the NBA changes it's calls from regular season to playoffs or even throughout a hard fought game. Seems like "Swallowing the whistle"is only a NBA term.

As they say on primetime, this is making my sports pants extremely tight. Russell Wilson, the man that led us to our only Lombardi, trying to bring Baseball to PDX, and even finishing the tweet with Rip City? Fucking really? I'm dorking out so much right now.

I think it will happen in my lifetime, it feels so right. I hope if we get a team that they end up in the NL so I can still be a Mariners fan too.
