<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Jason Kidd did just about all he could last night to try to get the Eastern Conference semifinals back to Cleveland for a decisive Game 7.

But as the Nets learned in the most painful way, Kidd can't do it all by himself, even if it sometimes looks as if he can.

Despite an inspiring second-half effort from their captain, the Nets lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers, 88-72, and were eliminated in Game 6 at the Meadowlands. The Cavs will take on the Detroit Pistons for the conference championship starting Monday in Auburn Hills.

Kidd had 12 points, three rebounds and two assists in the third quarter, when the Nets rallied from 15 down at halftime to get to within one entering the fourth. But soon after Kidd went to the bench for a much-needed break early in the fourth, the Cavaliers grabbed the momentum back for good.

Kidd finished with 19 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists in what could have been his final game as a Net; there has been speculation that he could be traded during the offseason.</div>
