What the start of game 3 of the playoffs showed is how effective the Blazer offense can be when executing the Nurkic style of center play. If that same effective combination of screens, pick and rolls, passes, and big man defense would have continued in the 2nd half, that game was a win. What did not work was the attempt to have Aminu or Vonleh carry out the center assignment. Instead, Meyers is the center who can and should be executing the Nurkic center style when Jusuf is on the bench. In the 2nd half, the Warriors became very agressive, actually tackling Dame and CJ, with the refs allowing physical contact that is football, not basketball. Since Jusuf needed the rest, Meyers should have been in, also adding 9 or 12 points from swish3s, physicality, and big man defense that would have won the game. Despite the negativity on this forum for Meyers, Noah, Chief, Allen, Mo, and others, I suggest that playing to the strength of the Blazers can lead to Blazer wins. Putting Meyers on the floor with Noah and Chief to get open shorts and better ball movement (like Jusuf does it) would be a path of needed 2nd half offense. Now that we know what the Nurkic style center play can do for the Blazers, I propose that the Blazers assign Meyers to his natural role, as center not forward, to provide what was missing in game 3 that can lead to wins.
Meyers has played every center in the league....he's practiced with Joel Freeland, Chris Kaman, Jared Jeffries, Lamarcus, Robin Lopez, Ed Davis and Nurk....yet he plays nothing like any of them....he needs coaching and more lateral speed....against Memphis he's ok....the Warriors are way too fast for his game..bad matchup to play him big minutes when he's healthy and he's not....two herniated discs in his back and a sore hip...it's his FIFTH season under ONE coach and system......at some point, he should improve but he's regressed. I had hope for him for several seasons...now..not so much..sorry but I do appreciate your optimism.
Yes, just a guy that can keep them honest defensively, although the bigger the player the better in this scenario.
Damn I Love her. That other girl in Dirty Grandpa is way cuter and will probably look better at 45 but oh well.
Actually I'd have him on the floor when McGee is. Because (a) McGee is only on the floor about 17 mpg (b) he's killing us because he can hang around the hoop. Have Meyers pull him out on D, and just tell Meyers: DO NOT LOOK AT ANYONE ELSE - JUST PUSH HIM AWAY FROM THE HOOP
