Lillard needs 19 points tonight to tie Brandon Roy on the all-time scoring list (currently Roy is 15th, Lillard 16th). 8 Free-throws ties him with Calvin Natt at #17 on the all-time free-throws made list. 18 Assists ties him with Mychal Thompson at #7 on the all-time assist list. Gramps...
I'm going to assume you're sarcastically mocking another poster I have on ignore, because I wouldn't be happy if someone as respectable as you said this earnestly.
I mean..... Roy really only played 5 years, so this isn't that surprising, and he dealt with significantly more injuries. This is really more of a testament to how good Roy was in such a short period of time. First year - 57 games Second year - 74 games Third year - 78 games Fourth year - 65 games Fifth year - 47 games Only 326 games total in his career (including Minnesota), and only 300 starts. Dame has already played 292 career games, and he has started 292 games.
So what you're saying is Damian is doing it faster than Roy. All while Dame had to kowtow to a prima donna during his first 3 seasons.
I think you definitely have to factor in that Dame wasn't the #1 option on offense for his first three years in the league, whereas Roy WAS the Blazers offense for his first three years in the league.
Yeah thats impressive. Roy definitely picked his spots his rookie year and let Zach be the #1 option on offense but after that the offense always went through Roy. I think this is may be a result of Dame's 3 point shooting; he is able to rest on offense and stand in the corner but still get significant points when defenses collapse. Happened all the time with Aldridge and then Dame had plenty of energy to score in the 4th. This year his 4th quarter scoring is down perhaps because he's fatigued and creating so much offense in quarters 1-3. Roy had an amazing ability at the end of games when we spread the court with three point shooters and LaMarcus at the 5. He could get a layup, to the line or a teammate an open three every time. Dame's defense is actually much better than Roy's despite all the flack Dame gets. I think if Dame was listed at 6'5" but had made identical defensive plays in his career he would be regarded as a better defender. Also if Stotts had different defensive strategies Dame wouldn't be as exposed even though maybe the team would've given up more points. Dame is often put in difficult defensive positions so our big men are protected. Impressive feat by Damian so early in his career. He was a 4 year college player same as Roy. Hope this is the first of many records he gets.
If you want to go there: Lillard: 3Pointers - 4th Free throws - 18th Rebounds - 44th Assists - 8th Steals - 26th Blocks - 50th Points - 16th vs. Roy: 3Pointers - 13th Free throws - 13th Rebounds - 34th Assists - 14th Steals - 23rd Blocks - 51st Points - 15th Roy with a slight advantage in greatest Blazer-dom @ 23.3 vs. Lillard's 23.7 Gramps...
Looking to the end-of-the-season all-time standings for Lillard: 3 Pointers - Trails Nic by 18, Porter by 40, Wes by 93. #2 should be easy, #1 doable but not a sure thing. Free Throws - Trails Zach by 78, Buck by 121, Arvydas by 122, Roy by 152, Rasheed by 271. I think Roy is attainable, Rasheed, I don't think so. Rebounds - Trails Steve Johnson by 41, Wes by 59, Camby by 90, Ruben Patterson by 132, LaRue by 133, Petrie by 146, Outlaw by 151, Strickland by 231. I think he takes Camby but gets less certain after that. Assists - Trails Mychal Thompson by 18, Jim Paxson by 133, Petrie by 183, Strickland by 743. Petrie I think is doable, Strickland, not a chance. Steals - Trails Fat Lever by 10, Calvin Natt by 13, Roy by 44, Sabas by 92. Natt I think, Roy possible but doubtful. Blocks - Trails Bonzi Wells by 2, Augmon by 12, Porter by 15, Larry Steele by 19, LaRue by 21, Martell by 24. Wells yes, Augmon maybe. Points - Trails Roy by 19, Randolph by 114, Vandeweghe by 610, Damon by 657, Duckworth by 1100. Randolph easy. Vandeweghe /Damon, possibly. Gramps...
