From what I can see, it seems Chelsea have been banned from making ANY signings--That's right, ANY--until 2011. This includes any player without a contract, and any other standard signing. It seriously took me a couple of hours to really understand this, and I still think I'm missing something. THEY CAN'T SIGN ANY PLAYER FOR TWO YEARS! That is immense! Anyway, maybe somebody else can have a read and tell me if I'm missing something--I must be... If it is what I think it is, I'm sure the charges will be dropped to just one transfer window. Even that would be harsh. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/c/chelsea/8236187.stm
Sounds like Chelsea isn't arguing that they weren't in the wrong, just that the penalty is too harsh. Seems like FIFA is trying to make an example of them. I don't know if it will stick.
