https://www.yahoo.com/sports/report-chris-paul-talk-spurs-204501368.html Chris Paul is reportedly interested in joining the Spurs, Rockets, or Nuggets. 1st off I'm surprised not to hear New Orleans mentioned. So why the Spurs? Would he come off the bench behind Parker or would they play both of them ( of course, neither Parker or Paul would come off the bench) he'd be a strange fit with the rockets. Harden likes to play point guard and doesn't like other stars on his team. Ego ego ego. And the Nuggets? WTF? Why would he want to join the Nuggets. I mean they got Jokic but that's about it. So much for those Superteams huh Silver (well I guess joining the Spurs might count towards that.)
He wanted out of NO. Even though A quality PG would do that team wonders, I'm not surprised he doesn't want to go back. Spurs is a legit spot and puts them right back in elite status if you ask me.
I could also see Boston trading Thomas and getting Chris Paul and then drafting fultz as a backup and to learn under CP3.
If he wants another ring he will. He isnt healthy enough to go a full season and win anymore. Hell they practically played better with our boy Patty than him this year.
I know he is getting towards retirement. Has Ginobli officially retired? It would be funny if Paul does go to San Antonio if he asks them to trade LaMarcus as a precondition.
I think Paul is most likely to stay. He can get the super max in LA and he loves living in LA. I don't think that's a lock, though. If he left, I could see San Antonio being the destination, if they can (and are willing to) clear all the cap space they need (from what I've read, they'd at least need to move Gasol and Aldridge). Houston seems like a bad fit. Both he and Harden want to control the offense completely. Both of them can't do that. It's very different from Curry and Durant, where both were willing to share the ball and play somewhat decentralized offense.
Friends with Harden? Already a good team and plays a fun style? There could be various reasons. I think when getting into the nitty-gritty of how they'd actually play together, it won't be as appealing as either staying in LA or playing with a 60+ win team and Leonard (a superstar who doesn't need to control the ball).
I wonder if D'Antoni could transform CP3 into a bad defender? CP3 and LBJ to the Spurs (with LMA hitting the road to clear space) would be awesome for shutting down GS' dynasty. I doubt they can pull off both, as one or the other is pushing the realistic limits of finances and plausibility, but a Durant-hater can dream, can't he?
I much rather see them as teammates and eventually have CP3 step up into LA's grill and berate him during a game! Hahahaha
Parker played only 25mpg this year, and put up super efficient numbers. Last time he put up those numbers was the last time Spurs won a ring. I'm not sure with the hamstring tear if he'll get back to anywhere near the level he was this year. His game is too reliant on quickness. Who knows though maybe at 34 he can return to form. I truly hope so.
