We all knew it was coming. I guess i just thought it would happen after he retired. CJ will be an awesome NBA analyst. Wish him all the best. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...pelicans-cj-mccollum-joining-espn-nba-analyst "The network announced Monday that they have signed the Pelicans star to a multiplatform deal. He will make his ESPN debut on Thursday during "NBA Finals: Celebrating 75," which will be ESPN2's alternate presentation of Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics."
CJ is very talented, and when it's all said and done, he will probably be on World News, or some Big time World Issues show. Sports is just the beginning.
Congrats to CJ. I look forward to listening to him. He is such a great personality and very articulate. I already miss having him being part of the Blazers, regardless of any strategic or roster benefits.
Kendrick Perkins is on ESPN as an analyst too Today, any room in your house is a studio set. Just so long as you have a green screen. Won’t take too much time out of his schedule and will be no travel during the NBA season. Good deal for CJ
CJ working on his plan B, C, D and E.....he's got a baby now..that's some serious incentive! He'll be retired from hoops about in time to take over for Ernie....
Perk played one game after the 2015-16 season so he's effectively been retired for half a decade. I think this is brilliant by CJ, get that big broadcast career started while your perspective is still as an active player... it's smart. As the President of the NBAPA his takes on what specific players are doing or bringing to the games will have to be very bland, diplomatic or have an outright optimistic bias. If he's seen as having an adverse affect on a player's value that would be a very bad look for the head of the union. I think it would be really cool if he was just a player apologist. Someone that always tries to see things from the perspective of the player that the other analysts are criticizing. Whatever his approach is, I'm sure it will be brilliant. Dude has always had his eye on this and now he's getting a head start.
It's a four year term. CJ can stay in the position as long as he is playing. As an active player he has to be conscious of the things he says as well. I agree while in the position he has to stay away from SAS type statements or becoming Barkley on the set. I don't think that would be his role or would want to go there. CJ seems to be pretty measured when speaking.
His podcast has always been top shelf intelligent work...he's not prone to getting overly excited ..impressive young man.
