Congrats to Adley Rutschman for being selected #1 overall by the Baltimore Orioles.

It's so crazy, I was his dad's TA at Tigard High and remember when he was born. What a great story for the metro area.

Terrific player and person from what I’ve heard. Too bad the Beavs had so many injuries and slumped at the end of the season. Would have loved to see him in the CWS again.

Great family. His mom and dad were both teachers at Tigard High and were easily the most liked teachers at the school. Easily my favorite teachers when I was there.

The kid is definitely a stud as I got to see him play football when he was younger as my grandson played for Putnam youth and then high school as Sherwood was in his league. He also reminds me of another stud catcher that I played baseball against named Dale Murphy who had a stellar career with Atlanta.

Just part of an amazing legacy by Pat Casey. I can't wait until he's announced as Oregon Ducks Baseball's next head coach.

    Drafted by Baltimore.

He better save his money. If he doesn't get traded, his career is likely to be short and bitter.

As a Duck fan (and honestly not much of a baseball guy), I really dont want that to happen. The OSU baseball program Casey built up is phenomenal, maybe the most successful sports team in the state and Casey’s name shouldn’t be tarnished by the Ducks, he’s a Beaver, and did great work as one and should retire as one and our last memories of him coaching baseball should be as a Beaver.

He deserves the payday that only the University of Nike can give him.

    He's a catcher.

If Zunino can be in the league 5+ years, any catcher can be.

What do you think of McGary's pro future? He went to my high school and was a year behind me.

He's very good. Good size, hits for power, and good fielder. Needs to cut down on his strikeouts though. If he makes a jump next year like a lot of players between their sophomore and junior years he will get drafted.

We don't do baseball in these parts son. We like to actually stay AWAKE during the games.

More of a nod/shout-out to a local kid and great family.

If Mike Barrett and Russell Wilson get their way, baseball will be on the way to these parts.

...that would be funny if @ThePosterFormerlyKnownAsTheHCP 's employer won the contract for TV production when the Portland baseball team finally becomes a reality. Here is an early glimpse of him on the job waiting for that action:
