<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Twenty-four hours had yet to pass on the draft lottery transformation of the Portland Trail Blazers, and general manager Kevin Pritchard and his staff already had brainstormed a most intriguing idea: If they're going to draft Greg Oden, they should take a hard look at making a trade to get Mike Conley Jr. to come with him.

So the discussion is under way, a source close to the team and Oden said Wednesday night, about trading into the top of the lottery for a second draft pick to secure the franchise center's personal point guard. It would be a brilliant, bold stroke for the Blazers G.M., and here's the thing: Pritchard has the parts and the imagination to make it happen.

He's on a professional roll, what with drafting LaMarcus Aldridge and trading for rookie of the year Brandon Roy. And now, against all odds, he won the No. 1 pick in the June 28 draft.

Does Pritchard have enough with Zach Randolph, a 20-and-10 low post scorer and rebounder, and Jarrett Jack, a competent point guard, as the backbone of a major trade? As it looks now, the Blazers are determined to find out.

Oden and Conley have been together through AAU and high school ball in Indiana and a Final Four season at Ohio State. Before they even won the lottery Tuesday, the Blazers had done enough research on Oden to understand that to get the most out of this mild-mannered Midwestern prodigy he needs to be comfortable. He never has played without his best friend, Conley, who happens to be the best point guard in the draft.

Already Conley and Oden, who flew to Oregon on Wednesday for a meeting at Nike, privately are discussing the possibility of Portland crafting a deal to keep them together. While Oden understands it's still something of a reach, the fact that the Blazers immediately thought of trying to get Conley thrilled Oden.</div>

I just read that article, that would be so sick. Once CWebb retires, Blazers are going to be my 2nd fave team, they were already awesome with young studs like Roy, Aldridge, Webster. Now adding Conley to the bunch? Ohio St was fun, but oh man Blazers set for awhile, I hope they make this work. Trade Randolph and Jack, whatever it takes to get this to work.

On an unrelated note, let's go Detroit, win the title and let Webber retire happy [IMG]
*I'm going to be sad even though he def has lost a step

Meh, I think he will cost too much to get him so I'm iffy on it, I'd do it for the right price. Maybe we can persuade Boston to take Martell Webster and Jamaal Magloire for another filler and there pick [IMG]

Honestly though I am pretty high on Jack, he really showed great things at the end of the season for us along with Outlaw.

I like this, I wish we didn't have to give up Zbo cause I think we can get more for him. But if thats what it takes, lets get us some conley lol.

What does the blazers salary cap look like? I'm still gung-ho on them going after Rashard Lewis in Free agency.

Also--Any thoughts on darius miles? I think he should go but I don't know WHO the hell would take him. We're not gonna get much for him but he still needs to go,,,

There salary caps looke like this (well I don't know exact numbers, but I do know you need to put a - in front of the numbers), we are way over the cap.

As for Miles, we don't need anyone to take him just drop him off the team, I know we will still pay him his salary, but really I'd rather pay him for nothing then to pay him to influence Roy, Alderidge, and Oden/Durant in a bad way. I want him off this team unless he makes a 110% change in how he acts and plays.

I love you. Those are my thoughts exactly.

As far Conley goes; I'm undecided. Jack is a solid PG, and he'll always have a place in the league. I'd like to think of him as a much more talented offensively, and younger Eric Snow. But I'm still sold as Sergio being our future starting PG, and future all-star for that matter.

Besides the fact that I think Mike will have to take the backseat, if we were to trade up, I'd much rather take a guy like Brewer.

    Having a lineup like this:

    Oden
    Aldridge
    Brewer
    Foy
    Rodriguez

Which would be incredibly amazing. I'm not thrilled about giving up Jack, however I am about getting rid of Randolph. So, I think it really depends on the situation.

Regardless of what happens, the future looks bright.

    Hi,
I have a question. If you do Oden, why wouldn't you want to keep him happy with someone he's always been on the same page with. That would be one less chemistry issue to deal with. I can understand why you wouldn't want to let go of Roy but why not Aldridge? No disrespect to him or his game since I haven't seen him play or know what his game is. What makes him such a keeper? Is it his age or is it based on potential? Like I said, I'm curious because a move for Oden and Conley would have you set.

Aldridge is a great young PF. He will develop into a great player. But to have Oden and Aldridge develop together in the front court would be amazing. To keep both of them would be an upside. Conoly would be great for them becuase of chemistry, but I like Jakc, he is a soild PG with good potential. So to give up guys you need to give up Randolph. And go after Lewis, Gereald Wallace and get some players of trades.

Alderidge has great potential, he really did well at playing Center for us and that's not even his favorite/original position, he likes playing at the 4 more.

As for the Oden-Conley thing, well I think Oden has to realize that he can't be with Conley everywhere he goes, it just doesn't work that way, now Portland will try and pursue him, but no deal will probably happen and if Oden does get in a bad mood over it (which I doubt happens) then I guess we are screwed there.

Then I guess we should have drafted Durant. The last thing Portland needs is a drama queen, and Oden is definitely not one of those. I'm really stoked on the characters of the Oden/Durant, either way you go, you get a quality person, and an amazing basketball player.

Blazers are going to be my 2nd favorite team now because I'm a huge Buckeye fan and a huge Oden fan. (Wearing Oden jersey right now lol.) I would love to see Conley and Oden playing together again.
