    There's an LA County mandate.

They aren't in close proximity to people, so I would not consider them to be involved in a mega-event.

Find me a picture of them in a crowd without masks and I'll agree they were being stupid.

The mega-event definition is any gathering of 5,000 people.

They aren't gathered with 5,000 people. Looks like they are gathered with 3. 4 including the camera man.

Again, you're being silly and petty. They are gathered with 3 people, regardless of what ticket they purchased.

The point of the mandates is to reduce spread. What these people are doing is not hurting that effort.

What you are doing is the same as ignorant ass cops stealing money from people they pull over just because they can.

The law says that person could be considered a risk if they are carrying $10k cash. So they take the cash.

But in reality, it's just a guy who doesn't trust banks and just had his life savings stolen because somebody wanted to be an asshole.

You're every bit as bad as those people you're pointing out. Worse, because they aren't trying to spread misinformation and conspiracy theories created to confuse people.

This is a yes or no question.

They are in close proximity to each other and the the box is open. There are people just above and below them. Did I see the stadium requires masks? If so, they should be wearing them. Plus the mandate? Both are requiring masks.

I get they are vaccinated. But, that doesn't matter if there is a mandate. Trying to understand what your argument is here.

Argument is there is virtually no increased risk of transmission in this situation, as there would be if they were actually within a group of 5000 unmasked people.

So using it as some target toward them is just petty muckraking.

I guarantee that when they were in close proximity to large groups of people they were masked.

There is a risk. Perhaps a small one in the box with just a few people. But, if you take in account a screaming stadium of fans, (hopefully they were all wearing masks) that's alot of germs flying around and the open box is below and above seats with many fans.

It is an open arena, not a closed building. Does that matter? Probably not as much as it would seem.

I agree outside of the box they likely wore their masks while they were in crowds.

It's an interesting argument. There are alot of variables.

None of this matters. These people MADE the rule that for mega-events, you have to be masked at all times unless actively eating or drinking. They skirt these rules, as they have routinely skirted the rules in the past. Its hypocritical for them to do this.

If they were people who said "fuck the mask mandates", then it wouldn't be hypocritical. But they aren't, they are the people who set these rules in place and they should set the example.

It it the textbook definition of:

Rules for thee, but not for me.

Magic Johnson does have a history of not wearing protection.

They are responsible individuals (vaccinated) acting in a responsible manner, according to all the science we have available to us.

You're just being petty. If the stadium had a problem with it the stadium will ban them. But they weren't within a gathering of 5000 people.

Again, find me a picture of them in the crowd with no mask. Then you're not being petty, IMO.

But a picture of a few people in a suite where you can eat meals, seperate from everyone else is just petty BS, IMO.

So the mask mandates are optional if people self-assess themselves as being responsible?

Again, these are rules THEY set. They should, at a minimum, abide by them.

A few months ago, I stated that I thought that mask mandates in arenas where everyone is vaccinated is bullshit. So me, not wearing a mask, wouldn't be hypocritical.

These politicians dictated that if there are more than 5,000 at an event, EVERYONE must wear masks regardless of vaccination status. They are at an event with more than 5,000, despite you absurdly stating that they are at a small private gathering of maybe 3 or 4 people.

IMO it's a really poor look for the governor to be pictured at the game not wearing the mask. A football playoff game between San Fran and LA, talk about the potential for a super spreader event. It's more fuel for people to act the fool, "if the governor doesn't have to wear a mask then neither should I."
