FC Dallas defender Jackson did what he could to give the Crew a chance to score a goal last night in Crew Stadium.

A two-minute mental lapse single-named Brazilian earned him two quick yellow cards and an ejection and gave the Crew an 11-on-10 advantage in the 33rd minute. It took a while, but the Crew took control, took the lead and won for the first time this season.

Andres Mendoza converted a penalty kick in the 54th minute, Eddie Gaven scored with a left-footed strike in second-half stoppage time and the Crew won 2-0 in front of an announced crowd of 14,549.

Gaven's goal was the first from the run of play for the Crew, which opened the Major League Soccer season with a loss at D.C. United and a tie against the visiting New York Red Bulls.
