All these people criticizing Dame's shot selection..... and then we literally watch him give the ball to Plumlee three times in a row and have it stuffed by Green. We are severely lacking in scorers right now. Especially in the starting lineup. When Dame kicks it out to Harkless or Aminu, it's just as likely to be an airball as it is a made shot. We went from having a starting lineup with Wes, Batum, LMA, and Rolo (all of which could make an open jump shot,) to CJ, Harkless, Aminu, and Plumlee. I mean..... that's a HUGE step down in terms of shooting ability. We are more athletic, we have a better bench, but we are really missing guys who can make shots right now. When teams clamp down on Dame and CJ, which they have been doing, nobody else can make shots. We go on these long droughts where nobody can make an open shot. So what is Dame supposed to do? A bad shot from Dame is probably just as likely to go in as a wide open shot from Harkless or Aminu. Frankly, I'd rather watch Dame jack up a contested three instead of watching Plumlee get stuffed or Aminu airball a three.
CJ is a better shooter than Wes Aminu and Harkless have been better than Batum Plumlee won us the first round and posted a 21 PER And our bench is better. We are much better than last year. How can you not see that?
We saw it with the clippers and we see it with GS. Teams are willing to let everyone else beat them and aside from CJ everyone else seems to be an inconsistent shooter at best.
We need a backup PG that is able to get into the paint and create for the shooters. If anything, this series should've taught you that CJ is a pure SG and he is at his best attacking and getting his own shot - like a more controlled version of Jamal Crawford. Tyler Ulis please.
I'd rather just go big inside with Plums and Davis if we are gunning. Relying on Aminu and Harkless to set screens isn't working.
Good post. I was thinking the exact same thing watching the game. Dame and CJ went too long without shooting during that critical stage in the middle of the 4th. Even when they take some bad shots....I don't care because it often helps them get in to a rhythm, like what happened to Dame in the 3rd, his first couple of shots were forced....but then he got hot. Shooters need to keep shooting.
Dame shooting contested fade-aways on the baseline is bad. Him shooting the jumper early in the clock or a kick out open 3 is great. When the ball is in his hands too long against the Warriors, bad things happen.
Aminu/harkless is not better at scoring than Batum/Aldridge. Come on man. And despite everything that plumlee has done, he can't hit a jump shot to save his life. Which was my point. I'm talking about guys who can make shots. Effort or overall contribution isn't the issue. The reason why dame and CJ take so many bad shots is because the rest of the starting unit goes ice cold and can't score. It happens way too often.
Yeah on paper our four centers looked good but when one is injured and the other is too old to play, it's not as good. BTW, anyone notice Meyers wincing and rubbing his shoulder tonight?
I would still prefer Dame taking any shot rather than having Plums, Harkless or Aminu trying to create offense during crunch time.
I forgot. We have size. Except it's injured and when it's not injured it plays smaller than its size. Hahahahah
Meyers nailing one or two threes and passing the ball well would be a big help when they camp Bogut in the lane.
Tonight, Plumlee kept losing the ball when he took a dribble before going up. He should just lunge at the basket and use blunt force. We need a heavier center, who can plow through the defender, instead of hesitating in order to give himself time to find a path. Plumlee can then be our starting PF.
Nah, we don't control defense; the refs do. Teams like ours have to win the hard way, by hitting shots while the other team cheats.
Larry Sanders is goimg to be brought up a ton this summer but I just don't see it. He mentally checked out at least two years ago. All of a sudden he wants back in? You go after RFA Ezeli or even Biyombo before Sanders.
It would be nice to have Meyers' shooting to spread the floor, but defensively he would be in the wrong place swatting at air. The only rim protection we'd see from him is if he dropped the soap in the shower.
