This breakdown really shows how different Curry and Dame are. Superficially yes they both have range and can hit crazy shots. But Curry is deadliest when he's open on a curl. Dame has a much more physical presence, making space on mini iso or driving to the hoop. Totally different games on display.
I expect Dame to run off screens a lot more this season (much like Curry does). He's great at planting and rising up off the move (out past the 3pt line), and if he's overplayed, can make very quick backdoor cuts (even quicker than Curry). Same with McCollum. I think that was the whole thought process behind the Turner signing.
I also see a lot of transition plays where Lillard and McCollum completely leak out and sprint to the corner where Turner is the outlet man and the one pushing the ball up the court. This is what the Warriors do with Draymond pushing the ball and Curry/Thompson sprinting up the floor.
That game was such a FUCK YOU, NBA moment. First game back from the all star game after his egregious omission. Against the best team in the league. Against his rival at PG.And a legit shot to climb into a playoff spot. Dame has a tendency to come up big during these situations, further confirming his "it" factor.
I was at this game: Pause the video at 0:38, and look at the stairwell behind Golden State's bench. Count about 5 or 6 rows up, and I'm the guy in the red shirt sitting on the left side of the stairwell. My father is sitting next to me to my right in the blue shirt. Epic game. My first ever Blazer victory that I've seen in person.
Man I wish I was there! I remember watching it at my house while doing homework, and just completely closing everything to wait until after the game. While I was watching it, it reminded me of when curry had 54 in the Garden a few years back. But dame did it against an amazing team, and curry did it against the Knicks.... Lol.
yeah i think i went like 60 hour span of with maybe 3 hours of sleep cause that game was on between shifts
Just went back and watched the video. I forgot how big Aminu was for us in this game. Hopefully he continues to improve.
