Go back to "the shot" two years ago. That year the Rockets were supposed to be contenders. Since then they've been on a steady decline, despite having mostly the same team with several very good, established players. Dame killed the franchise with that shot (at least for a little while). How apropos it would be for us to take their spot in the playoffs. I could see them blowing up their team after that. Go Blazers!
Letting Parsons out of his contract early and playing GM like a fantasy owner had nothing to do with it?
Didn't they make the western conference finals last year? We just touched the 2nd round for the first time in over a decade
That obviously had lots to do with it but you have to admit The Shot basically ended Parsons's career in Houston, and got the whole ball of shit rolling downhill.
I think the premise is at least partly that The Shot is what led to some of the subsequent moves and ultimate decline. Especially letting Parsons go, which was a mistake. Houston has been tinkering ever since, and seems to have really bad chemistry at this point.
Yeah, this. Blaming that loss on Parsons was dumb. And if it weren't for being reffucked just prior, we wouldn't even have needed Dame's shot.
Both franchises are what they are today because of The Shot, imho. If dame doesn't take the spotlight from LMA, I think he might have stayed.
There is another rumor out there that the reason Houston let Parsons out of his deal was because of Fegan steering Howard toward the Rockets. If they simply wanted to move on from Chandler after the shot, would it not have made more sense to pick up the very low option and trade him? Note Fegan's work to get DeAndre Jordan to Dallas. Seems like a guy that is doing more than just getting the most money for his players.
So, is Olshey buddies with this Fegan guy? Does he represent Durant or George? (He asked rhetorically.)
