Who agree with Dame? Should we retire Jersey #7?
Who agree with Dame? Should we retire Jersey #7?
The problem is he didn't win anything here. He didn't have an MVP season. He made 3 allstar teams, 1 all nba second team and one all nba third team. He played 5 seasons and despite what Dame said about Roy having been the greatest Blazer of all time if he hadn't gotten hurt, the numbers don't show that. He never dominated like Dame or Clyde and definitely not for the duration they have. He was a three time allstar who played five seasons with us and never won a playoff series.
If we retire Roy's jersey, we are the definition of bushleague.
If Brandon had stayed in touch and part of the Blazer fam he would have had his number retired a while back.I say YES! He brought me back to being the euphoric fan i am now. His performance against Dallas, when his knees were shot, was other worldly. The Blazers were a joke in the Jailblazer era. Roy & LaMarcus, and even Oden brought a sense of, We're back. He was dominant for a 3 year period. And the second best closer in Blazers history IMO. I know the Blazers retired way too many numbers of players that really aren't at that level, but Roy brought pride in being a Blazers fan back. And on the hierarchy of this franchise, he's in the Top 10, IMO.

Hell, maybe Sam Bowie. Thus the reason Dame said "if he didn't get hurt"
Of course, that would most definitely have been the case for Bill Walton....had he not gotten hurt.
He didn't play with the Wolves for a year or so after he retired. You could be right however that Paul was pissed. To me Roy seemed to brush the Portland fan's off. What makes you think that was on him? I think PA was pissed about the TWolves stint and gave Brandon the brush-off.
That's funny. You we're on the Ol' Iron Boots Patrol. I remember y'all hammering Brandon. Like our country, Blazers fans are divided too. Be nice if we could all enjoy the ride again, together. Go Blazers!!Roy was a butthole to Andre Miller. Many of us were team Miller during that debacle. Roy didn't like playing without his security Blakey.
Brandon was critical, not so much of Andre, (whom I also was a fan of) but the choice of Andre.Paul Allen offered Brandon any job he wanted with the organization when Brandon said he had to choose between playing with his kids and walking or basketball. That's what I remember..then Brandon signed two years with the Wolves for 10 million, came to one game after that and never showed his face in Portland again...not for playoff games or anything so to me...he blew Portland off...if he had been like CJ about it his jersey would be retired...a happy parting of the ways but Brandon contributed to Andre Miller leaving, Nate getting fired and Raymond Felton coming to Portland....I was always a fan so Brandon didn't have that affect on me at all. Great talent...blew his knees out doing martial arts contact kicking from the time he was a kid...which stopped his NBA playing career. I don't see Brandon at any basketball events actually...he just disappeared pretty much to coach in his hometown. He couldve been our coach today had he taken an assistant job when offered a spot here. As it was I didn't care for the way he left the Blazers at the end.
I think Dre was cool with everything his whole career ..he didn't seem like a guy with baggage after a game. I'm sure in hindsight they are all cool with each other...that was my least favorite season of Blazer basketball ever....the Canales hard hat season.Brandon was critical, not so much of Andre, (whom I also was a fan of) but the choice of Andre.
Roy was not fast.
Neither was Miller.
That was his main issue, and, he was right.
But, I guess, they were "cool" with each other.

I know....He was traded before Nate was fired...Felton played the Canales season with Jamal Crawford. Canales only coached half a seasonAndre Miller didn’t play in the Canales season.

The Andre Miller stuff bothered me a lot…not really team leader behavior.Roy was a butthole to Andre Miller. Many of us were team Miller during that debacle. Roy didn't like playing without his security Blakey.
