I would like to get thoughts on the rankings of determination and killer instincts. Putting skills and physical attributes aside, I think Dame is of rare superstar caliber when you rate this particular mindset I put him up there with MJ, Kobe, LBJ and CP3 & KG. I put him well ahead of guys like Shaq, Kevin Durant, Karl Malone, Gary Payton, John Stockton, also guys known to have that killer instinct. When it comes to guys who can will things to happen, who just have a drive that will not quit, I put Dame in the top ten in the history of the modern NBA. Where do you rank Dame's determination?
His determination must be at least an 18. What did you roll for dexterity? It must be high to be a Paladin.
I've always thought dame had the "It" factor going for him. He may not be the most talented player to play the game, but his swag is top 5
Dame's great but he does have a degree in marketing..he knows how to build a brand and sell it. High character guy..fearless approach to the game. Confident. When he accomplishes a deeper playoff run, I'll rank him but his legacy has yet to be written.
The magnitude of Dame’s determination is beyond the operating limits of my computer’s RAM to calculate. WAG. Somewhere between Alexander the Great and the Wright Brothers.
See this is where I want you to separate. Maybe I should be asking to compare him as a rookie with all the other greats their rookie year, so play is not a part of your calculations. I want you to take stats out of it. Personality, confidence and determination out of the gate. Where does it rank? The unfair factor for me in this, and is the main reason I am asking is, I, like many Blazers fans, was able to watch Dame closely from the beginning, but many of the other great,s I was not. I don't know how confident MJ came into his rookie season, DR. J. I am sure they had some, but how much? Not sure. Try to keep playoffs, stats, years in the league all out of it and just go on the person. Try again?
even after watching the ROFN clip (CLASSIC!) I still don't get this at all? AC? I don't think Oden really ever believed in himself. Another reason I am asking this, and Mags keyed in on it, is often guys who believe, make it happen. I don't care how good you are, if you don't believe in yourself, you will only go so far, and usually that isn't very far. When at this level, I truly believe what separates stars from superstars, is their belief in themselves. If they truly believe they are going to dunk over Gasol, they will, but if they go up wondering, FAIL.... Even when we believe, we still fail, but when we don't believe and fail, we give up. But when we believe, we get back up on the saddle and keep going until we get it right. And the more we believe, the more we keep getting back up. I think Dame is the type of guy that will keep trying to get back up even after he is in a coffin....extremely rare quality.
I would replace LBJ with Larry Bird. How the hell do you forget Larry Bird? As good as LeBron is, I would put LBJ (Business man/Basketball) between the two lines for now.
Yes. Him Magic, Ewing had it too. so did Miller. There are many. I still think Dame makes a top ten list. possibly top 5. And as far as LBJ. I am somewhat indifferent, if anything, not a fan because of his leaving dramatically, blah blah. With that said, there is no denying the dudes determination and persistence and drive to be the best and win win win.
Dames shoes were magically enhanced for +10 charisma and +5 determination but at the cost of -10% chance to hit a 3 pointer. Hopefully he can kill a boss mob and score some better gear.
I just hope he goes full leeroy jenkins when he dunks on aldridge and aldridge has to fake an injury and hobble to locker room to cry.
This is what Dame says about his determination: This song's new and awesome: "Married twice to the game ... But never to the fame Flirting on occasion, cuz it double up the change"
I would have to say that Dennis Rodman was just as determined as Iverson if not more so. That guy went after the rock like his life was depended on the next rebound. And it really probably did. Rodman may have lost the plot but when he came into the league he was as sweaty as Will Ferrell in a bad SNL sketch.
