On the pod last night, CC & I were talking about Rubio’s 37 point, 10 assist, 8 threes performance and decided to see how many times that has been done all time (reg season and playoffs). The answer is 28. Dame was 8 of those. No one else has done that. I was surprised. Not even Curry or Harden. Then we looked up the same stats for the playoffs. It’s only been done 4 times and Dame was 3 of them. Chris Paul was the other. So if you’ve been wondering why Dame made top 75, well like now you know.
Cool, so maybe this can go in that thread Or your podcast thread? or one of the many Dames great threads? just a thought….
He has been a stud for a while. He is obviously in an early season funk, but he is not staying in it forever. And people are jumping off the bus. Shame.
Yep, he did it once. But we have essentially been a one-and-done team during Lillard’s time in Portland.
On this week’s pod, we noted an amazing stat. In the storied history of the Celtics, they have had 17 games in which a Celtic scored at least 50 points. Get this- Damian Lillard has done it 14 times.
The Celtics storied teams had multiple scorers and some of those teams were before the 3 point line and even after, they didn't take as many threes per game.
Ah I see. Set it up to just keep bashing him. Lol. Move those goalposts. People bailing on dame lmao. It's just so predictable. They've been waiting for years and think that the best time to do it is when he's injured and actually taking time off. "Hey thanks for doing everything humanely possible to get this town a ring even though the GM fucked you over year after year, but in the end you fucking suck and youve done nothing." It's all illogical.
Just watching the game and listening to him after it tonight. I think that Dame is at the apex of his career and I think with his always increasing BBIQ, this new intensity on D and the fact that he's moving better than he has in four or five seasons... this is the best he's been. I also think that he can sustain this level for three or maybe even for more seasons before a slow decline. His sustained excellence should most closely resemble Steph's because both didn't start playing all of these games until after a full college career and both rely on their shot to set everything else up. The difference being that just visually Dame has the more steady frame and unlike the injuries that have kept Steph out, Dame's one serious injury is one that rarely recurs. We've got a lot of nights like tonight left and he just needs this organization to sell out on his remaining years of true greatness and not worry about what comes after that. That doesn't mean making dumb moves but it means getting a second all star while keeping Jerami and then surrounding that core (and probably Shae who I can see being at an all star level by the playoffs) with role players that complement their games and work seamlessly in Chauncey's system.
Top Headline on ESPN.com https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...n-lillard-nets-60-season-second-highest-total I think Dame will average career highs this season in ppg and apg, especially if we can get him an all star forward in the next two weeks while keeping Jerami and Shae. Future picks really shouldn't matter (in other words we should guarantee Chicago's pick this year and trade the rest ['25, '27 and '29 along with swaps] to get the best all star available), Ant and Nurk should go for value and salary matching and also because they don't fit either with Dame (Ant) or in Chauncey's system (Nurk) and we should pick up an athletic workman C as well... I've said in other threads that the Magic seem to want to be rid of Bamba.
