DC spoke to Ariel Helwani today and announced his intention to take the remainder of 2017 off and return next year. A fight with Jimi Manuwa is on the table, as is one with Volkan Oezdimer. He also won't rule out fighting at heavyweight. Most importantly he wants to work his way back to a third fight with Jon Jones who he is convinced he can still defeat. Colour me surprised. In the meantime he's going to be the defensive coordinator for his son's football team through the fall.
Good to see him taking some time off to spend with his family. I really think he should give up the LHW run. He had a good one and became a legit champion in my eyes and in the eyes of many. Unfortunately. he does not have the tools to beat Jones. The weight cut is hard on his body. Finish his career out at HW and see if he can make a run there.
Agreed, especially since a big reason Cormier started to fight at LHW was because Cain was the HW champ. With Miocic as the champ it's worth a try to come back and see if he can make a run at the HW Championship.
