David Letterman‘s mother Dorothy Mengering, who made many memorable appearances on her son’s Late Show on CBS, has died at the age of 95.

Mengering passed away on Tuesday, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She often called into Letterman’s NBC show Late Night as “Dave’s Mom,” but she made her first on-camera splash in 1994, serving as the Late Show‘s “correspondent” to the Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. Her TV visits with her son were so popular — she interviewed Nancy Kerrigan and Hillary Clinton during her Lillehammer stint — that she returned to the show as a correspondent for the following two Winter Olympics in Nagano and Salt Lake City.
