It's pretty clear Deron's still not himself, just watching how he plays now. Not that Deron couldn't pass before, but he's passing a lot more than he used to. In his three games back, he's had 15, 15 and 13 assists. But only 11, 13 and 10 points. Comparing that to last seasons average of 18.8 and 10.5 per, it's a noticeable difference. He's also taking less shots. Basically, his ankle (which he said he doesn't think will be 100% this season) has taken away from his ability to drive to the hoop by taking away his explosiveness. That's a big part of his game, where he uses his size well. So now Deron is passing more and driving less, as he's been forced to. He can't keep up with other guards as well either. While it's early in the season, all these injuries will play a big role in determining where Utah end up in the standings. The Jazz have actually had more total games missed through injuries by players at this point in the season than they had for the entire last season.
He shouldn't play. He can't guard anyone and he can't run, cut, shoot or drive. And he was my first round pick in my fantasy league, so I really want him to continue giving me 15 APG.
