Pritchard was never coach and GM at the same time.

Both are full time jobs. To be the best at either requires 100% of your attention and focus. Doc was an especially shitty GM. He should have never been given that position in the first place, but Donald Sterling wanted him as coach and that was one of Doc's conditions on accepting the coaching job.

Donald Sterling was a cheap bastard....he hired Mike Dunleavy to be GM/Coach too for a stretch....think he thought it would save him payroll more than being a basketball decision with Doc.....Doc is being exposed as a mediocre coach and a terrible GM...

Thibs looks like he's doing a pretty good job of filling both roles in Minnesota. I'm pretty impressed with the talent he's assembled there. We'll see how it all works out on the court though.

Wonder if he berated the person that gave him the news the way he berates refs on a nightly basis?

Doc Rivers is the reason why I have no desire be an NBA ref.

I've never understood why guys like Doc and Pops get so much latitude to bitch at the refs. It seems like a policy for the refs of listening to occasional respectful complaints, one warning for abusive shouting, and the boot for anything beyond that should be instituted by the NBA.

    The thing is this:

No one wants this. No one wants players and coaches booted. The NBA is a star driven league and it's officiated that way.

    I do :)

If it were officiated that way, wouldn't the behavior change, so the refs wouldn't have to boot coaches and players?

    Just a theory.

Yes but it would take time. The league has a history of doing dumb shit like:

Let's penalize players for flopping when it's ALWAYS the ref's fault.
