i was just thinking about this the other nite...what you guys think? it might even help it since he is out for season if we trade him, the other team doesn't even have to worry about him playing.

No I don't think it will make any difference. I don't think any team is trading for LaFrenz playing. They would only be trading for his salary and cap relief next year.

He can be bought out, too, saving the roster spot.

I don't think LaFrenz would take any less money with a buyout. LaFrenz knows this might be his last contract for anything more then minimum if he is lucky. I don't think the Blazers would trade or waive LaFrenz unless they were getting someone in trade better then they could get in FA next year and he would have to be the position we need.

The buyout can be for full contract value, I do believe.

That would be the same thing as waive LaFrenz. If the Blazers waive LaFrenz they would still need to pay his full salary of 12+ million. They would have another roster spot with waiving or buyout. I don't think they would want to do that because they might need his 12+ million salary for a trade at the deadline. They could combine lets say for example Webster's 3+ million and LaFrenz 12+ million for Marion 17 million and it would work.

It's a question of whether the roster spot is more valuable than the possibility of moving his contract for value. When the likelihood of the roster spot use is Hill and Jackson? I'll take my chances on trading his contract. :)

To answer the OP's question: no.

LaFrentz' salary didn't get injured, so his value to the team remains the same.

If a team wants to trade for him, they are trading for his contract, not him, and they can waive the requirement for him to pass a physical if his injury lasts past the trade deadline. I don't thinik it will hurt us.

Noc would actually be a good fit for the Blazers. Good teammate, hard (if not smart) worker, and a good three point shooter to play off everyone else.

Kevin Pritchard agrees with you. We were in discussions several times with the Bulls for him as part of a package for them to obtain Zach Randolph.

Not as a serviceable NBA player, but he does as a 12 million dollar salary relief. It's why teams trade Baron Davis' for Dale Davis'.
