I agree with Drew!! https://www.nfl.com/news/drew-brees-facing-intense-criticism-for-comments-on-flag-disrespect Drew Brees facing intense criticism for comments on flag disrespect
I do not--EAT SHIT, Drew! Kaepernick was kneeling for the exact same reasons that people are protesting for, right now, literally as we speak. That flag doesn't stand for shit, if it doesn't stand for ALL individuals in our Once Great nation.
kneeling isn't disrespectful. Its saying homage, its giving in to it. Sorry man but drew and anyone thinking its disrespectful is not looking at the history of kneeling before your authority.
I saw the video. Hand-over-chest is honoring. Always has been. Kneeling is an effective antithesis/protest to that stance. Nonetheless, Drew spoke from the heart and I respect that.
I understand people being upset, in regards to people being respectful towards the flag. but I'd rather people be respectful towards other people. The flag is meaningless as long as we treat people differently based on their skin color. This is just a racist wag the dog moment.
such a dumb fucking controversy it so damn dumb. Flags are 'desecrated' ubiquitously in this nation. There flag jock straps and flag swizzle sticks. Flags don't miraculously materialize out of thin air when somebody is suitably patriotic. Flags, in all the forms above and other forms, even just as a flag, are made by corporations so they can make money and isn't just the height of irony to say that flags are acceptable tools for profit bu unacceptable tools for protest. That you can use the flag to make a buck but you can't use it to make a point. Drew needs to think a little bit or go on a crusade against all those items above
I was behind a big Dodge truck the other day that had American Flag mudflaps….nothing says patriotic like splashing mud all over 4 flags while 4 wheelin'...Drew Brees is full of shit..
Sure the flag has historical significance in symbolism. What Kap did never had anything to do with the "flag" though. It never had anything to do with the military either. Those are called strawman arguments to distract from the point that he was trying to make. I had a lot of issues with Kap, he wanted to be a martyr so to speak. He waited till he basically didn't have a job in SF (he was benched) before he decided to do anything. He was given opportunities after SF and wouldn't take them because they didn't match what he wanted, and then complained they wouldn't give him a shot. The truth is though he was still talking about issues that he wanted to protest, police, and systematic racism. It had nothing to do with a piece of cloth or those who have served in the military. Where Drew didn't read the room as it was put to me heh, is that he's not even talking about the same freaking thing that these protests are about. Not sure why I'm posting today I must be broken.
lol I have this same shirt except mine has an eagle on it. was looking for the most ridiculous shit to wear for mur murican holidays.
Drew Brees stepped in a pile. I disagree with him that kneeling is disrespectful to the Flag or to veterans. If you take the time to understand why Kaepernick and others kneeled, then you will understand that it in no way disrespects anything and in fact honors the lives of a group of Americans who the flag has not lived up to.
In New Orleans? Nope. Also, I have to say it's hilarious that Kaepernick's original idea was just to stay seated for the national anthem and he talked to a military veteran he knew about what a more respectful way to protest would be, which is how they came to taking a knee. But yeah, totally meant as spitting on the flag. Some people need to get a clue. Drew Brees among them.
I was behind a truck a few months ago, with US flag on it (like it was on a pole, off of the trailer hitch. Whoever made the apparatus that the flag was situated in was a craftsman). The flag itself was tattered and torn. But this was one of those "Oregunian" fools, so I wasn't going to say anything.
I was at a pool party and set my beer down. I guess it was set on some navy issued shirt or some bullshit and the vet started freaking out about that shit. Not even a flag, but some navy shirt. What a fucking herb.
