Be as cynical as you wish in processing the Bulls' 45-minute news conference Wednesday that most people interpreted as an endorsement of the status quo. Old habits die hard. The Bulls deserve the skepticism after so many vague excuses and empty promises. But realize that, of all the things Bulls executives John Paxson and Gar Forman said inside the United Center, what stood out most was what they didn't say. And the silence about Jimmy Butler likely reverberated around the league. In a state-of-the-team address, the Bulls never promised they wouldn't trade Butler — and everything about this offseason revolves around the possibility of a blockbuster deal that apparently still exists. It seems as is the Bulls have player trade difficulty problems and executive personnel staff issues. This is a bad sign.
