VITALS: 6-6, 213, senior, Kentucky OVERVIEW: Bogans declared early for the draft two seasons ago before a poor performance at the pre-draft camp forced him to return to school at Kentucky. After a difficult junior season, Bogans flourished as a senior and was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Year. Bogans averaged 15.7 points and 3.8 rebounds as a senior and helped Kentucky reel off 26 straight wins before his high ankle sprain contributed to the Wildcats' 83-69 loss to Marquette in the NCAA Tournament. Bogans was terrific as a sophomore when he averaged a career-high 17.0 points and led the team in scoring, beating out current Detroit Piston Tayshaun Prince. Bogans shot 38 percent on 3-pointers last season after only connecting on 32 percent as a junior. LIKELY DRAFT POSITION: Second round. Bogans has been scouted a gazillion times by nearly every NBA team during his career, so clubs are familiar with his game. He could be selected anywhere in the second half of the draft. COMPARATIVE UPSIDE: Jim Jackson, Aaron McKie COMPARATIVE DOWNSIDE: Lavor Postell, Laron Profit ROLE PROJECTION: Reserve. POSITIVES: In his four-year college career, Bogans has been through about as much turmoil as a 10-year NBA vet. His junior season slump, in addition to his pre-draft experiences as a sophomore and senior, have given him a maturity that he previously lacked. Mentally, Bogans has poise in his game he can weather a storm and will not force plays. Physically, Bogans has always been a step in front of his peers. Blessed with tree trunks for legs and a bulky upper body, Bogans has the strength to bang bodies at the next level. SHORTCOMINGS: Bogans is a solid athlete and decent shooter but does not have the speed to consistently create his own shot nor the marksmanship to be a prolific scorer on the perimeter. He looks like a role player in the NBA, and because he has already reached his potential, Bogans does not offer much upside as a prospect. WHAT THEY'RE SAYING: "Bogans has helped himself in this (Chicago pre-draft) camp. He's powerfully built, he knows how to play and can have some runs with the long ball. I look for Keith Bogans to be in the NBA." former Boston Celtics general manager Chris Wallace
definitley a reserve and only a reserve, he spent 4 years in college and never really sparked. More on Bogans from NBA.com: Keith Bogans Profile
