https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/250898/Kevin-Durant-Im-Now-The-Real-Me-I-Was-Phony-In-OKC "And then on the court ... the guy we saw in Oklahoma City was not cursing all the time, was not being as aggressive in terms of arguing and maybe fighting with guys or getting technicals... "Durant texted me and said 'the guy you see now is the real me. The guy in Oklahoma City was the phony -- I was just trying to please everybody and do what I thought everybody wanted me to do.'
I saw these quotes a day or two ago and laughed. I’m so glad we have Dame as our vocal leader instead of him.
KD is a moron, he needs to shut up (not "shut up and dribble", he can retire from dribbling too for the sake of most NBA fans).
Good for him. As long as he doesn't hurt anyone or commit any crimes I'm all for it. Be yourself people.
If KD hadn't been such a nice guy and had stood up to Westbrick more often, the kid would have been a better player, OKC would have been a better team, and KD would have been less likely to run off and join the GSW super team. The entire league would be better off. Sounds to me like he learned from his mistakes!
Unpopular but I really like Durant. Second favorite player in the league. People just hate him because he went to GS. That’s it. If he went somewhere else, nobody would be calling him a douche.
And people give Lebron a pass only because he didn't go to the team that beat him? Lebron still went to super teams and made roster decisions, ran Kyrie out of Cleveland, etc. Yeah he went to the Lakers and they aren't the greatest but that was a business move. I am sure they will get Kawhi next season or something and then oh look, another team where Lebron has to have a star by him.
The situations are not the same at all. Lebron didn’t go join Boston because he couldn’t beat them. Lebron went back to Cleveland who was awful at the time and got them to a title. It’s a business for all these guys and the teams and even for KD I respect he’s allowed and should be allowed to go do what ever he wants, but GS was historically good without him, GS had won without him. Lebron brings winning where ever he goes. KD Choked like crazy then decided can’t beat em join em’ oh and then he’s gone on to be a little wuss about it and cry about it whenever someone tells him the truth. Lebron and KD’s changing of the teams haven’t really had anything in common.
KD happened to be a free agent the summer that the Warriors had a boat load of cap space to use. A year later or earlier and this doesn’t happen. How many guys would have also decided to go to GS if they had the chance? Let’s say Curry wasn’t a Warrior. And let’s say Durant was from the beginning, so the Warriors were really good and NBA champs. And Dame was a UFA and GS gave him all the money they could. Does he say no? Or stay in Portland?
I can't say at all what another man would do. I support the right for KD, Lamarcus, Lebron to move. Even if I don't like where they move to. I don't think KD has handled it with grace at all though. If this version of KD is the "real" him, than maybe the real him is a thin skinned kid, who has never and will never have to learn to take things in stride. There are so many ways people can endear themselves to the fans, and no he doesn't have to, he can do what he wants. So can the people that don't like it though. Not advocating some of the "crazies" out there who threaten violence and crap over this, but we're free to tell him it was a lame easy way out, and unless things change he will never prove if he was good enough to have a team built around him, or if he could be a leader on the basketball court. Because he went to a team that was already built, with leaders already on it. I mean I don't "know" KD, and probably never will, but the persona he has exhibited since being in GS does not seem like a good dude to me. IF KD had just owned it I think we'd all stop talking about it. People have told him exactly what he's done and why they don't like it and all he usually retorts with is, lame insults back about how pathetic their lives must be or whatever.
If Durant hadn't said what he said in the tweets, he wouldn't get as much flack. Oh wait, no, hes a Komplete Douche, so itd of happened anyway.
