Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that President Trump called him last week to apologize for the bloody fight between Erdoğan’s security and protestors in D.C in May.

Erdoğan told "PBS NewsHour" on Tuesday that Trump had “called me about a week ago about this issue.”

“He said that he was sorry and that he was going to follow up on this issue when we come to the United States within the framework for an official visit,” Erdoğan said.

A White House spokesman pushed back against Erdoğan's account, saying the pair had “discussed a wide range of issues but there was no apology.”

A grand jury indicted 19 defendants last month in the brawl that took place outside the Turkish embassy, including 15 Turkish security guards. Sixteen of those indicted were charged in June on criminal complaints.

Two of the defendants were arrested in June after the fight. The rest remain at large.

The United States just apologized for enforcing American laws against a dictator attacking American citizens on American soil.

I still think foreign security on American soil attacking American citizens should be considered an act of war.

I can never figure out which of the dumb-ass things attributed to Trump I'm supposed to get all in a lather about. Just the real ones, of which there are plenty? The fake ones, of which there are certainly some? I'm pretty much going to be trying to keep my lunch down until he leaves office regardless, but going to Defcon 1 every time someone as unreliable as Erdogan claims that Trump told him something or other just seems like an exercise in insanity.

Based upon his response above, I don't think @Natebishop3 is. Neither am I. I can't stand most of Drumpf's actions.

I have become numb to his embarrassing actions... at this point I'm more concerned about his actions that can have lasting effects on our country.... or even just immediate effects. He's already in bed with Putin, so Trump apologizing to another shitty dictator is really just par for the course.

Erdogan should never be allowed to step foot in this country again. If Trump did apoligize I wouldn't be suprised. He's pretty good friends with Duterte too. Its funny how he called out a list of dictators during his UN speech but left certain ones out. Seems their actions can be excused.

Erdogans security attacked American civillians, thats an act of war.

Stay numb to his words, but monitor his actions. His words don't matter.

How is it fake news? Erdogan said it on national TV. Either Erdogan or the white house is lying.

So if you have a foreign government attacking US citizens on US soil and then lying about it that is a problem. Why would Trump even be talking to this POS? Why not a cute nickname on twitter? "Turkeyman needs to be locked up in a cell next to Hillary's!"

Seems pretty random for Erdogan to suddenly say that.

But Denny is saying the story is false. Erdogan never said it. Or they never spoke on the phone. Or Turkey isn't a country. Fake.

What's the beef with turkey? the protesters are chickens and the security force is a bunch of pigs. Like lambs to the slaughter.

I agree with sly's premise that any or all of the scenarios above have become the new ok and mostly unworthy of comment considering all the other potentially egrarious positions and actions attributed to the current administration. sad.
